Welcome To Soundoff

Post by Michael » October 22nd, 2004, 7:50 pm

I’m Michael and I appreciate having the opportunity to express my progressive political views.

What does “progressive” mean?

Well, I think “progressive” is a word that’s used today to mean liberal or “left leaning”.

Did you know that the “left” and “right” labels actually originated in France, after the French Revolution? It referred to the seating arrangement of the French legislative bodies.

I really don’t like labels. I think we get too hung up on labels.

For example, The Libertarian Party in the US could be said to be domestically “right” or conservative while being “left” or liberal in its foreign policy ideology.

Is an environmentalist “conservative” because he or she wants to “conserve” the environment as it is or is she or he “liberal” because he or she is a “tree-hugger”?

See what I mean? I don’t like labels. I think they're disingenuous.

What I hope you don’t think is disingenuous are the columns that I post here, probably weekly to start with.

I also don’t mind debate and will definitely admit when I’m either wrong or I need to study something further.

On the other hand, I have very strong political leanings and social beliefs. I don’t think it will take you long to figure out where I stand.

You can get even more information by visiting my blog.

Michael,

Welcome to Studio Eight.

I know you are going to be a great edition to our columnist section.

Not just because I agree in general with your politics,

but because it's always nice to have someone around

that makes me sound like a moderate.

I look forward to many informative and provacative articles.

onward

Open Michael, sesame

and the caves of hidden treasures reveal themselves, item by item,
shaking off the dirt of cover-ups, rocking and rolling into the light of day.

Yeah.

great idea to do it here!

Hey, I know this guy from somewhere....the question is, does he know that he knows me?
Everything is surreal and i'm still not sure which decision I'll make.

Not only do I know you, mi amiga, but, if you look very closely, you’ll see repeat rants. Actually, in your case, threepeat rants. Image
