I don't put salt on my avocado.
I don't put sugar in anything.
I took the homemade chicken soup out of the freezer.
I hope it's still good.
I'm hungry.
They want me to take statins.
I read the side effects were horrible.
They fuck with your muscles and give you headaches
and insomnia. I don't want to take them.
That's all I got for now. Good day.

here I sit
fingers tapping,
an old woodpecker
banging his head against a tree
trying to say something
with sheer determination
and a beak of iron will
day after day
night after nightmare
the fingers
the fingers
ebony and ivory
my keyboard clucks
the old rooster is still here
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Is this a death wish?

What's the use of dying if you don't die trying?

I know what came first
the egg of course

missing so many here on studio eight

one by one
the dominoes fall
it is the way of nature
we are born.....
with a bit of luck
we mature
possibly flourish
then there is a steady decline....
with a bit more luck
it's graceful
beautifully acted
but we all know
there is much to come to terms with
family and friends
leaving before we are ready
perhaps before they are ready as well
and we go on about our lives
coffee in the morning
another log on the fire
another valentine's day
jam on brothers and sisters
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

deep within
the dna strands of time
there are truths we rarely know about
each of us comes pre-packaged
with a host of details
some good, some not so good
they all affect the jam we jam
then we throw in our environment
and the teachers and people we meet
into this existential salad bowl
and toss
hopefully the taste is appealing
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

we are what we are
no less
no more
to know one's self
is to acknowledge the flaws
to love one's self
despite them
doesn't always come easy...
so much more readily
we forgive others
than that bastard in the mirror....

the flu flew in
keeps me in the house
sometimes your body just tells you
slow down
practice a little self-care
you old coot
you can no longer muscle your way
through
pace yourself you old fool
take a nap
there is no shame in slowing down
it's a good idea you old hard-head
sit by the fire
stare at the wall awhile
clip your toenails
twiddle your thumbs
have a cup of of Chamomile tea
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

even young girls get the blues(sic)

sleep, when I slow down I sleep, I slept through 1964 and did not miss a thing, except for the South East Asian War games,

hope you are doing better today
we got to take care of ourselves and everyone else, a mitzvah I think, but I know jack shit about Judaism, one the kindest thing Crazy Mike did for me was spare me a religious education.

its all Volkswagons from here on down
this existential striptease I do on this perpetual jam

I had a post about tasty shit sammiches and the mother of all ruts that got vanished, either I did not submit it or , or?
I am grateful that it is gone
While I was writing it I was thinking about the night SurferMike got drunk on litkicks
I always admired that guy. He saw god, saw G d on a firebase in Vietnam. As I remember it G d flew in on a helicopter and he was wearing aviation sunglasses
I suppose it is the worst kind of vanity to suppose I can discriminate among veterans. But I know the vets who I rode sleeper team with the best were the combat veterans.
where is short-timer when I need"s him.

When I come home from work, I immediately change clothes
got to take care of my threads
I just spent a bundle on work clothes

wish I had a rhyme for this

The link is to

"Rodney Crowell - Even Cowgirls Get the Blues"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VozeI06JAV8

Just linking to the link and changing the link name to the name of the song doesn't tell people what you're linking to.

It was kind of deliberate, that is why I had the (sic) I probably should have wrote (sick) :)
the strange thing was I was thinking of another song, I got the title completely wrong

I was really thinking of this Ottis Reading song
Lyrics
Oh she may be weary
Them young girls they do get wearied
Wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah, yeah
But when she gets weary… More
