roach papers are interesting too, I knew an artist that used them as media. the were very cool,
so perfect here
in the cool of the night
as I transition from the taxman to the bus driver
Going to get my car detailed, get it smoke free
I decided not to throw anymore batteries in the trash
I am full of good intentions tonight
field outside this trailer house is on fire with texas wild flowers

If not for the music I can hardly stand it
this is so peak weather the next couple of months— crosses fingers, knocks on wood.
Kind of nights they sing in those songs about the rose of san antone

I hate it when I blow something I've written off into the never-never land of cyberspace. Is that even the right word anymore? I did it just today. Didn't even realize it was gone. I think it's a penance. For all the evil I've done or will do. Who knows?

Gave a book to a young Amish man about three months ago. He is about 16 or so and the son of the Amish farmer I buy firewood from. He said he liked to read so I offered him a book. He took it. Three days ago I was made aware that his father had burned the book.

First word that came to mind was Nazi. Then that passed. Yet the incident keeps going through my head. I know several Amish in the neighborhood. I have liked them all, without cause ever to look sideways at them. I have never drawn a line between myself and them. Today I realize they are the ones who have drawn the line or who have had the line drawn for them by generations past and have been taught to go on drawing it. Forever.

The book? Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon. Subversive stuff that.

The interesting thing about education is that you do not have to pay for it or go looking for it. It will come looking for you.

Yes. Thx Judih. The incident, because it happened to me directly and did not come from reading or second hand by story or philosophy, opened up many avenues of thought. What Dylan said, "Bringing it all back home" comes to mind".

Thx for reading and commenting, Judih. I appreciate it.

I fly over studio eight looking for whatever sparkles, then I swoop down on the wings of a crow and swipe them, stash them in a text box. teachers come and go, some lessons are from total strangers, sometimes the lesson sneaks up behind you and hits you with a glass bottle. Indian Paint Brushes steal away my mind

Blue Highways is a sweet book, I must have carried it around with me for a million miles.
you
reminded me of this poem about teaching and learning, learning the difference between fear and grief.

I love how the poem sparkles

Always there jam,
I am your sometimes
peanut butter, in,
again, after spans
Of life lessons,
oh how they
Recur,
when unprocessed.
And you came back again
After 17 years,
To teach me the
Difference, between
fear, and grief,
Grief for the bargain made
For me
at birth,
That I, we, all of us
die,
And have to leave
This beautiful ride on
Procreation wings we fly.
The children,
the trees,
the birds
the streams,
all of you,
I must leave forever.
I am not afraid,
but oh
I will miss it so,
When I have to go,
from
this glorious burst of
Being.

Didn't set a fire last night before bed - woke up this morning to 14 degrees above zero outside and 58 degrees inside - made coffee first ( you figure your priorities to the situation ) then got a fire going.

I wonder what the temperature is in the White House right now? I hope Melania is warm.

Words, sentences, ideas, no matter how subtle or ingenious, the maddest flights of poetry, the most profound dreams, the most hallucinating visions, are but crude hieroglyphs chiseled in pain and sorrow to commemorate an event which is untransmissible.

Every cat here is outside right now except for 'Zuki. While the rest of them made their escape 'Zuki's attention was captured by a fly and she was hard at work to figure out how she could nail the little insect bastard. I left the room to make coffee so I don't know how it all turned out.

I've never been sure what people are referring to when they speak of the continuum. Or the "whole thing."
Or "It's all in your head" - what the fuck is that supposed to mean?

Yesterday the dog & I walked someplace we've never walked before - a stretch of unpaved road I've driven countless times.

You can't really know a place when you're hurtling through it at 40 feet per second surrounded by steel and ABS - you need to walk there. You need to smell the mud, see the afternoon sun slowly winking on and off through the trees, feel the ground under your feet and the breeze in your hair, hear the woodpeckers drumming and the furtive peepings of little brown birds suspiciously watching the stranger pass...

You look into the woods lining the road and see its details for the first time - that lone dead oak, the meltwater seeps, those distant hills foliage will soon eclipse... You notice for the first time the cedar shakes on that farmhouse you've driven past all these years, the stone walls demarking ancient property lines, the galvanized buckets on the maples quietly collecting sap... You raise your hand in greeting to the occasional pickup truck slowly rumbling past... And in so doing you've gone from observer to participant, from audience to cast member, from stranger to family - and you're a little changed by it, as you digest a bit of its gentle mojo of Place.

only some 60 year old walls separate me from the wild bird chorus this morning. They sing', live life as usual while I wonder if this day will bring war to my neighborhood.
Meanwhile, I read poetry
