I try to be positive
spin the real world
into something
less distasteful
because I understand
the omnipotent power
of a single negative thought

it takes practice,
an ability to draw comparisons
while you are drawing art
one little turn toward gratitude
for all that is going well
is equal to one painting of yours
you really like, a keeper

perspective, perspective
such a slippery eel
reality can slip through your fingers
wriggle back to the tumultuous sea
where the opaque water does not
provide a clear view...
your thoughts can get murky

you may feel overwhelmed
confused about where you are
like when you're driving your car
in the city you know very well
and suddenly nothing looks familiar....
extracting an ounce of goodness
from a mountain of plastic litter

is a tricky endeavor at best
