Speaking of Jesus

Post by mnaz » October 22nd, 2019, 4:58 am

Speaking of Jesus I have contempt
for those who continually make war.
That means I couldn't possibly be Jesus,
who was said to be about love not contempt,
even toward those who continually make war.

This may be a question of understanding, i.e. the meek may well be those who are "unplugged" from all things that make our civilization - those who never heard of politics, economics, the internet, the digital world and they really don't GAS about any of it. It just might well be contentment comes in quiet simplicity..? I'd think "El Papa" would favor those who avoid the "civilization", you reckon?

Oh, I don't know maybe the meek will inherit when the malefactors of great wealth are done with it. turned it into a waste planet

Question for me is why the Evangelicals are a major of Trump's base.
Yes Virginia there are Zombies
I am an ignorant child when it comes to the bible, but I still wonder what Jesus would think of zombie christians?

I have read the Eugene V. Debs was evangelical, and transcended.
Where can we find another like him? He was a Christ-like figure as I remember him, or as I remember him in a John Dos Pasos novel USA

The wealthy are certainly busy making sure they have/will control over the earth's treasures until there's nothing left to grab except the gawdaful waste they will leave behind (it's getting closer, day by day).

Evangelicals (n) : of or according to the teaching of the gospel or the Christian religion. synonyms scriptural, biblical, Bible-believing, fundamentalist, orthodox

Evangelicals enjoy fooling themselves into being they are totally in-step with Jesus and his written words. Little do they know or want to know, the words of Jesus he never wrote down. His words are memories by men who either were "there" at his times or what they heard repeated by others who heard Jesus speak. If that, these who claimed they were witness to his lessons/speeches "must believe" they heard the words of God himself. This is the mindset of the evangelicals... believe "their" words and go to heaven or refute their words and go to hell, period. Is not this POWER of the simple masses? You betcha, amigo... you betcha'.

I think the problem is when Jesus gets wrapped up in religion, and when that happens his words might get twisted to fit schemes of global religion that always seemed good in the short term. I'm beginning to suspect that of all religion, though I could be wrong..

All religions begin with the words of a prophet, a wise man or normally thru enlightenment.

Again, most prophets or enlightened ones DO NOT start religions but teach those who listen how to live a better life.

I think the problem is religion. Indoctrination. Blind faith. (Is there any other kind?) Short, prurient attention span. I mean, Jesus, 'breaking bad' was voted best teevee series; too easy to get sucked into teevee. Into Devices. Is that really all we got? Meth and Gangsters underneath the shiny sea of Silicon? It sells 'Heisenberg' tee shirts at the Albuquerque airport I guess. Capital is religion. At any cost! (It wants to replace all the other religions!)

But. I. Digress. Just blowin' smoke up a chimney. And yes, of course I have Seasons 2 & 3 on dvd!

You're right.

One might be caution using language like that less you get accused of some-kinda-commie! Remember "religion is the opiate of the people"..?

I too just jest, of course. But the sensitivity of mankind is peculiarly delicate... yes?

Yes Cec. Even old "Kommie Karl" had a few good points. And thanks wylde. Past and future blurring a bit...

It's too often too expensive to live/sustain our so-called escalating (advertised) "standard," scraping, scratching, head on a constant swivel. Parts of Europe and Asia are going thru this too it seems. At some point if you can't afford the "standard," then maybe the problem is more the "standard" than you.

Anyway, Jesus (that is, Christ also) lived in a material world and transcended it. But straight-up Materialism is where we seem to be at, and accelerating..
