If this is unity, I don't wanna see chaos......

United States of rugged individuals.
It is serious as a fart in a spacesuit.

You being a daytime bomber again ? A united state means subject-object are of the same nature. Ever shake hands with a Baptist preacher? Welcome to your state. In the beginning it was an idea and it remains one - we have churches & we have graveyards, roads, Walmarts, friends & enemies, days & nights - communication abounds, everyone with their face in a phone -

lazy diamond-studded flunkies
she has wisdom and knows what to do
she has me

Fifty Nifty States United together but o so different from each other.... thus a United States exists despite the friction (a necessary need to keep the fires going) and going these 50 have grown into... Unique Stability held together by one Constitution.

Constitution? In a teetering sense, yes.
And yes, I've shaken a few preachers' hands in my day and listened to poetry. So?
When ya got even Congresspeople spreading violent Civil War rhetoric, it seems to me this thing is teetering, a bit too close to going off the rails completely . . . Yet again. If the majority is fine with this, so be it. "United" we fall.

I mean, we gotta at least try ...“Folks keep talking about another civil war,” the meme said. “One side has about 8 trillion bullets, while the other side doesn’t know which bathroom to use.”

Well, they're all next to each other, I mean, on the same continent, bordering with each other, with no other countries mixed in, in between. So, in that respect, they are united. But other than that, I swear some of them are LIKE other countries. Ever been to the deep south, for instance?

So... I took your poem seriously. How did I do?
Re: I've Decided to take the Title Of This Country seriously.
Yes. The "states" are all different. Some are Red (TM) and some are Blue (TM)... Some are East, or West, or South, North or Cornfields. So obviously their peoples have NO COMMON HUMAN ground, and should forever be at each other's throats like Pavlov Dogs when whistles blow, whenever the Clown Show Army of $hithead, Lyin' Thievin' Pols and Pundits tell us to fuck with each other because we're not the same color.
So. What. Why take some cynical marketing slogan seriously. Or any of this shit. Waste of time/space. Broke my own rule.

Yeah, I’m not too happy about it, either.
Re: I've Decided to take the Title Of This Country seriously.
Taking it seriously is the first mistake. Maybe the only one.
Re: I've Decided to take the Title Of This Country seriously.
in school, freedom for all sounded pretty good
i grew up with stars in my eyes like the rest....and stripes
then one day you look around and see all the needless suffering
but for the sake of greed and the power it has
and you think it was all just a beautiful fairy tale

If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: I've Decided to take the Title Of This Country seriously.
maybe there really was a time
when patriotic duty
was about god & country
about democracy
freedom
justice
maybe
or maybe it's always been about spending
consuming
working hard to earn money
just to give it back
to the corporate uberlords
maybe all that talk about ideals
was the real opiate of the masses
delusion
you are getting sleepy....
eight o'clock in the morning

was about god & country

justice
