his masters voice

Post by wylde » January 6th, 2020, 6:53 am

.

pneumatic phonograms pounder
weights phlegmatically
coughs of spasmodic spoons
drop forked up
legless euphonious smiles

his masters voice
wags with a swagger
as the needle croons

Nipper spins
in 78 revolutions per minute
ear cocked to one side
waiting, anticipating the lyrics

spoons
forks
needles
master

gramophone grunge
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

hi Arcadia indubitably:

HMV stands for His Master's Voice, the title of a painting by Francis Barraud of the mixed Terrier, Nipper listening to a cylinder phonograph, which was bought by the Gramophone Company in 1899

so all ears. as the master voiced...ex-pounds pounding.

hope that finally is of some help.

...part of a commissioned wood-cut printing panel, then cloured in, partly portraying this piece.

...just for interest - perhaps..

hi arcadia

wood cut is where the artist cuts or sculpts graphics in high relief, inks the raised portion and prints.

some years ago i collaborated with a commission, and then exhibition, with an artist to produce around 16 separate panels, generated images, inspired by my poetry.
After allowing a limited edition of prints in black & white, he then hand painted each carving, each panel, in essence then creatively destroying each panel, putting an end to any further prints.
This was over 2years.

Not included in the exhibition was a massive piece of about 3Mx3M (+- 10ft x10ft) - in intricate detail. This added a further year or so to the end process.

wood block printing is an ancient form, opposite to intaglio gravure printing where images are etched into a metal cylinder. it is more like flexographic relief printing, which uses polymer or rubber stereos.

Here is a link of the exhibition "learning to dance"

https://kznsagallery.co.za/Exhibitions/ ... g-to-dance

"The artwork includes 16 fine prints in limited edition, as well as the original finely cut hand-coloured woodblocks from which the prints were made. The prints are for sale. Also on show are an installation of printed fabric panels, made from huge woodcut pieces for the project.
Artist and writer are interviewed in a short video on site.
The artist has used selected extracts of Wylde’s poetry throughout much of this work, reminding the viewer of the link between word and image.
"

i hope this helps, and i haven't over-explained!

perhaps this may give a better perspective of the individual panels, which are placed side by side to produce a flow of imagery.

atop each panel are the word fragments of mine, associated with each panel.

I love the interaction between plastic or whatever image and poetry, what you did together was amazing...! bravo!!!
I didn´t listened to the interview yet, I´ll do it soon.
I appreciate explanations, I´m a teacher at basis...haha. Gracias!!!
