i walk and jog
tour the neighborhood
smell the blossoms,
marvel at the sky
listen to clips sent by friends
music students performing alone-together
look at CDs I never play
shy away from puppet making
meditate and share meditation
zoning in on the basics
honing in on simple syllables

Took a break
Planted a garden
Burned some brush
Enjoyed a takeout meal at
"Nick's Deli"
Then watched NCIS on CBS tv.
My wife, daughter and I do things together...
We wear face masks whereever we go...

good going steve
more power to ya

I watch a lot/too much probably  of TV
ABC, PBS, Netflix,. The Simpsons, The Honey Mooners, Twilight Zone, Barney Miller, Carol Burnet Show, Steven Colbert Trevor Noah, Gunsmoke, Sanford and Sons, I like to watch the last ten minutes of Perry Mason just to see who was guilty.
Saw a movie on Netflix called A Serious Man, it blew my mind. I read the NYTimes, Washington Post every day. I go the Calvin and Hobbes archive first thing in the morning. It is the highlight of my morning along with Studio Eight.

I am at loose ends, the days just drift by, I am not planning to come out till June or July till then I go out as little as possible and wear a face mask when I do and use hand sanitizer.

We are starting a garden too.

Watching
Poisoned Water
Documentary about Flint Michigan and wishing the Corona Virus would kill the guilty bureaucrats

Steinbeck Sweet Thursday today
doc wore his loneliness like a shroud
Thinking about true love lost and found and lost again
second chances are a curse
another day in paradise
and we are well
I can't see past July
that's when I will run out of cash
in the meantime, I am happy to be here typing away
and I don't lose any sleep over money anymore
when I owe a million dollars I will feel like a millionaire

a vision of sailing off into the sunset like Captain Joshua Slocan on The Spray when I am 100 years old and can't write anymore

“Guys that talk about the ideal woman just don’t like women." ***
usernames are a curse/blessing out of childhood nightmares about gender differences
the jack of nightmares at the end of a long strange trip
if not for Steinbeck's women I could not live long like this,
have not been outside once today, my mood is secluded
reading Steinbeck like crazy, over and over
trying to awake a memory of love
I am writing not riding
brushing my teeth and showering about the only productive activities I got except for this scribbling.
I seem to be eating a lot
***
a couple of centuries from now people are going to look back on these times and think all babies were born from mammary glands…

Reading the Paris Review today first time in a long time. I used to read it all the time. I been sleeping a lot. My virtual life seems like all I got. Somebody shoot me while I am depressed.

Sarcasm gets me through the news. Fear not: the big bad fat orange wolf in the white house will huff and he'll puff and blow it all away

in the meantime the wrath of grapes
day forty and I am eating peanut butter and grape wrath sandwiches

"This thing has the staying power of the pyramids." Why Me?—D.E. Westlake

I rode my bike yesterday
maybe there is still hope for today.
all I have to fear is rogue asteroids and Trump
and my death wish
sanity just a passing thought just like
Spalding Gray's right frontal lobe
and bone splinters and suicide.
Shiner Bock and sunshine and fresh air, I will make it through the night

bee's a-buzzin'
it'a not just a sound
it's a way of life
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

sleepless for two nights
the monster is trying to extricate himself
he's a troublemaker that likes to bore in
fuck with the harmony and peace and sleep
I'm supposed to learn something from the fires
of a woke mind that's flitting like a bee
flower to flower to flower lookin' for nectar
then zooming out of sight for some secret mission
only to return and do it all again, the poet knows
how to handle it, he grabs his ballpoint pen.....
growth is born in anguish, in fear of the unknown
the narrative hatches like baby chicks, breaks
the shells that restrain, so we may run amok
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

covid -19 creeps like poison sumac
along the same corridors as any menacing vine
some listen to doctors, some flip the bird
some wash their hands and some shake hands
with the devil, oh yeah, she no care
about your party affiliation, your religion
or lack there of, she oozes like Vesuvius
down the mountain into the township,
patience is not out national pastime
folks in america don't like being told what to do
stay home. wear masks . keep your distance
so they flock to the beach for the holiday
cause no god damn virus is going to tell a good ole boy nuthin'

cop kneels on a man's neck
no different than lynching
violent protests in Minneapolis
things on fire, people have had enough
so they lash back with broken glass
war in the streets where it's ok
for the protectors to use deadly force
if your skin is too dark
somehow these folks in blue
lost their consciousness, their morals
their ethics gone with a badge
they feel nothing when they end a life
for no good reason, the police have become
psychopaths
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
