serious as a heart attack
serious as a heart attack
stuck in Union Memorial
some kinda heart event they say
so tomorrow they gonna
make me drink some dye
and run a wire from my groin
up to the heart and watch it all
on TV...sorta,..see whats up,
see whats blockin traffic
third day here, gettin blood thinners
eatin crappy food, i had no idea
you could so vastly overcook an omelet
and I got this roommate that likes to
sleep all day and watch TV all night
He's either real shy or real unfriendly
turns his head away when i go to the can
draggin my IV pole, oh well
the staff is friendly and competent
And i didnt come here to make new friends
And well i have the bed by the window
And i can see all the way downtown
from the 7th floor and i got to see
A big ole Medi-vac chopper
Rattle my windows, so i guess
it ain't so bad

Re: serious as a heart attack
holy shit, man, thinking of you up here in NH - remembering my own overnight at Dartmouth-Hitchcock - food wasn't so bad (veggie burger actually pretty good), but had a roommate who kept pulling off his O2 monitor and setting off alarms all fucking night - all I managed was two 45-minute blocks of low-grade sleep.
If I were a praying man, I'd say a rosary for you - best I can manage is a "Hang in there" and "Hope the best for you".
Stay well.

Re: serious as a heart attack
hope that dye procedure gives enough clarity to move you gently through the overcooked omelette location to a rapid return home. Sending out non-rosary prayers and tactile wishes.
Re: serious as a heart attack
I don't know if they're injecting the same dye into you they did into me some years back for a retina scan - but if it is, heads up: it'll turn your urine into a highlight marker yellow/green. Nobody warned me about it. Low-flying aircraft could see where I wrote my name in the snow.
I've got two cousins & a brother-in-law who've had "coronary events", and they're all still with us, so I'm hoping the best for you.

The tune, "I will survive" roared into mind
"I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live…"
Thx to Gloria Gaynor of al people.

Re: serious as a heart attack
Dear Friends...didnt get the news i wanted..my genes caught up with me...my maternal grandad died suddenly at 62...hardening of the arteries they called it back then when he fell over in our backyard playing his guitar...and well I'm a little older, almost 72 and facing major surgery...most of them are blocked...95%...its so bizarre that an avid hiker that eats a heart heathy diet can have this happen...well, my heart is fine, its the damn blood vessels...
So Wednesday morning bright and early im getting bypass surgery...they break your sternum in two and steal arteries from other places in your body...the surgeon said, We got a lot of work to do...so next time i post, I'll be bionic....peace n love

I trust all will be a success Steve, even tho you aren't reading this...
I had a double stents put in several years ago. It went flawlessly. My Dad had his share of heart problems too, before the med-science got the right tools to open up arteries. Mine was some 11-12 years ago and I hope they continue improving for you, amigo.

Re: serious as a heart attack
alright then. A little shock. A little salute to the gene pool. Healthy living will support you through healthy recovery. And a lot of meditation, maybe some art visualization or doodles will help you express yourself each moment of this day. Wednesday here. Birds are keeping time, sun's about to rise.
Adding my good wishes to mtmynd's and roy's and truck's and from all of us.

You are so lucky they found the problem and will fix it! It’s challenging news, for sure.... but you are in good hands and your strong compassionate heart will be all better soon! You are in my prayers and have my devoted friendship!
