brevity is not mine

Post by saw » May 8th, 2021, 10:35 am

brevity is not mine
my mind doesn't seem to know
when to stop, no it runs
like an old toilet

most nights I hear the constant
whoosh of watery thoughts
gushing through galvanized conduits
I like to think of as arteries

for red-blooded boys like me....
yet I admire the lady or gentle man
that knows when to pull a plug,
I drool within their economy

sitting here with broken check-valves
and hands that never get tired
forearms like Popeye on a 3 day spinach binge
deltoids born in the baskets of cobras

that eschew the bamboo flute
only to love the tenor sax
what can I say about choices in the moment,
I dig a long and winding riff
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism

long-flowing brevity
as many words as needed
and then the end
