the complexity of being

a friend
gave me some edibles,
I think he sensed a need
I didn't recognize hiding
in the weeds, so to speak

I think health issues
can steal your joy if you let them
it's so easy to forget
who you were...some say
a fun loving guy

but, whatever you say, however
you describe me, the fact remains
I've changed a bit....oh, nothing over the top
nothing horrific, but perhaps I don't smile as much
or maybe I'm not as creative

but my good friend....No....my best friend
brought me some edibles....and now when I think
of all the money I wasted on doctors....my my
some were quite good to be honest....but others,
created the need for edibles

Life is complex even if it seems to be deceptively simple on its straightaways and turns, (maybe) magnified when one lives in a so called "superpower" full of doctors and spin doctors
