First time I read the word "hostage" and "abducted" I couldn' t believe they can be used seriously in English in the context of what happened on October 7th... in Spanish hostage sounds more like hostal or hospitality than hostil and I relate abductions with UFOS...I spent some hours reading etimology as if it can make these words and the facts relating to them less real or strong... the same happened to me when I listened fot the fist time an Sting's song that said " dancing with the missings..." Pardon, what missings??? It sounded like a total euphemism... but we use in Spanish "desaparecidos"...and it also sounds a bit like a David Copperfield act... The difference/ impact or the etimologic impulse appears always more visible when dealing or relating with foreign languages... In my search I also crashed with the word rehén ( very used in Spanish) and I found a surprise...
Maybe, when we have no words, words itselves feel inadecuate and mocking us...

Yahrzeit sounds like a noble word and state of mind, s-t: I'll connect with its loving-kindness attitudde and intention, no matter the actual destiny of the person🩷
About memory and art: the photographer Gerardo Germano en "Ausencias" (2006) also did his part dealing with the cruel, difficult to represent and to live reality of had have " dissapeared ones" in the families... We always do what we can...
Thinking of and also still talking here in loud voice with Judih...sure she can understand

Negotiations for release of hostages are ongoing. I hope they are successful. I hate what the world has become, but I'm sure there's no shortage of people who'll tell me it's always been this way or worse.

They’ve come to an agreement!!! Fingers crossed! We’ll see what happens! So glad the families of the hostages confronted the Israeli government!!!
Arcadia— I wish I spoke Spanish so I could have a discussion with you about the words you mentioned!

I just read that all but one of the 13 Israelis released today we're abducted from Nir Oz. Hoping for good news.

Re: Judih — please check in!!!
She wasn’t released today, unfortunately…. Hopefully tomorrow!!! She is included on the hostage list and Kurt (artguy) told me today that Canadian TV specifically mentioned her —- so I’m hoping that’s proof she’s alive and her release is upcoming! Fingers crossed. Prayers to the universe!
Thank God for the truce, though much less temporary than permanent peace— grateful they made the decision to release hostages! All of this is too traumatic … war is insane!!! I’m so happy for those who are now with their families!

It’s unfortunate there’s a delay today but transfer is starting to happen . I haven’t seen a list of who they’re releasing today. Have any of you?
Fingers crossed! This is so traumatic for everyone. My heart goes out to her family and all the families.

I see there have been more hostages freed, but I don't see Judih. Has anyone seen otherwise on various media reports?

I have not seen her name, either, Kurt. Disappointing… but holding onto hope!
Has anyone else heard anything?

Mingo wrote this yesterday in the poetry forum
the mingo wrote: ↑November 27th, 2023, 12:58 pmjust wanted to tell you I saw a report on Canadian TV last night. It mentioned the only Canadian citizen known to be in the hands of Hamas. They said her name - it's judih. They said her name was not on any of the hostage lists this time around. They did not mention her husband.
... hope.
