On this sad day

Post by Doreen Peri » January 21st, 2025, 12:08 am

On this sad day
while we’re suddenly living
in a radically different country
than we lived in yesterday,
I pray the damage can be repaired
eventually, not just for the sake
of you and me, but for our
grandchildren.

This is only the beginning
of the worst years.
Try to stay calm, but
please do not abandon
the fight.

yeah, I go from down in the dumps to hiding my head in the sand. neither works.
I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach 10,000 stars how not to dance.

it is the little things that keep me hanging on these days
like a new poem by mnaz, or a painting from saw
or a Farside cartoon or Clvin and Hobbes
and music
Yeah my guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Is the only thing that keeps me hanging on

I love that song. I love poetry by mnaz.

Unfortunately though, I think they are already dismantling the US government.

It’s hard for me to take my mind off it.

Not only did the US arm Israel which caused the death of thousands of innocent people in Gaza, now the new president has announced his goal of permanent occupation, to oust all of the remaining 2million Palestinians and take over the entire Gaza Strip to raze it, then develop the land and turn it into an oceanfront tourist destination. I am soooo upset! This is crazy, and as much as I’m grieving what appears to be the loss of my country’s democracy, I am livid! Angry. Hurt.
