Evil is not simply the opposite of good

Mobster Don believes morality is for losers
and that thinking is front and center of all activity he initiates
Only fools he professes believe in anything that is not to their advantage
and as I see it, once morality is just for fools, virtue makes little sense
once we all believe in the smash and grab reality of a jewelry store heist
we've all become looters without conciousness, and in essense
have surrendered to evil
when only self interest becomes the basis of reason, evil need not justify itself
We need, I feel, to recapture the language of good and evil
not necessarily related to religion, but we must make moral choices,
accept self sacrifice, and name the scourge that dominates us
it is not just authoritarianism, it's fascism

it's become impossible to simply ignore
even though i know on old warrior like myself
cannot dwell is this morass and keep breathing, I also
take many deliberate dives into the beauty that surrounds me
here is a place, i can blow off a little steam
and that release will have to sustain me until things turn around
and I appreciate that there is a forum to help me keep my sanity
