Act V
Act V
my scuba days are behind me
it's unlikely I'll ever climb Monadnock again
I've danced and wooed
loved and lost
had my moments of glory
and despair...
but I'll be arsed
if I'm going to mourn what was and regret what wasn't...
I haven't forgotten the thrills of childhood discovery -
how the sun always rose over here & set over there -
how frogs were hard to catch
but fat-bellied toads were easy
and always peed in your hand when you did -
how the winter night sky sparkled
even brighter than the summer's...
there's always another book to read
another composer to check out
another poem to write, another photo to shoot
another sunrise to celebrate -
so much to see, so much to learn
too much for only one lifetime...
so I choose to be like the children
to feel the magic
to delight in the unexpected
and to see what lies around the next bend
.

Re: Act V
wonderful philosophy Roy.....eloquently delivered......We are of the age that whether we like it or not we are urged to reflect....to size up our lives.....to try and make sense of how we lived and what we actually accomplished.....but the truth is we should never try to qualify what happened...we should always look forward....I've taken to saying thank you when I simply wake up in the morning...audibly....because there is no guarantee that that will keep happening......And despsite illness and raps on the knuckles, I like my life.....and would enjoy creating a little more....painting, walking, noticing, interacting with loved ones................beautiful expresssion here...Keep it up
