bubbling cauldrons of steaming soup, one bowl
will desensitize one to real catastrophic news
banalisation of dystopia not only involves the true
accounts but adds layers of heavy sour cream
......fiction to further the numbness, and I'd have to admit
to being 100 % guilty of drinking up my share of the hot mixture
truth be told I should go into isolation, burn my PC
and radio and tv like a faithful luddite in a ceremonial pyre
in order the break free from any and all outside influence
the claws are out, and we poets and artists, and empaths, lovers of life
are the prey....so why I am I filled to the Brim with Hope ?
why do I still have so much faith in humanity ?......perhaps
I feel like it just a nightmare, and I'll wake up.....or maybe
I still believe all the goodness on the planet will rise up at once and stomp on their ugly heads

for watching the game unfold
just sat long enough
to see Pappas trounce Sununu
(that lying MAGA toadie
without the balls to wear the hat)
I actually screamed with delight
when I logged on this morn -
better even than the polls -
now if only the Blues
can break with tradition
and not fuck it up
with pious declarations
with self-congratulation
with theatrical claims

too much work to be done...
