That photo looks to have be taken two years before. That's Burt Lahr in the back. He was the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz. In that picture he is portrying a charater from the play Waiting For Godot.

Mr Avedon was a master of the balck and white photograph... a man that brought photography to a new level. I'm happy he left behind his legacy which will influence yet another generation (or more!).

Thanks!!!! Avedon did come to Madison one time when his exhibit "In The American West" came through. I did not see him I wish I had the chance though. But at least I did the exhibit so that was good.
