love my rock n roll n blues
don't take that away
in my brain in my veins
fix me up with the music
play it live wake up the dead
jam the night
with the band
and jam the night with the poets
and when the sun comes up
jam jammin all the day
let the words come out to play
read me, but don't play me backwards

We have the same amygdala as animals, the difference is an animal only turns it on when faced with real threats
Not imagined fears
a monkey might fear the gorilla hanging above him but not the gorilla a thousand miles away
our amygdala is informed by the cerebral cortex
risk assessment. THe media is the megaphone that informs us.
Now I am not talking about the enlightened, the awake, the conscious
I am talking about the hump of the bell curve
The government scares the bejeezus out of them to win votes
Do they know that terrorism is not about bombs
It is about fear
Orange alerts
CYA

Fear once you turn it on it is hard to turn it on it is hard to turn it off,
Once you are afraid it is hard to get unafraid
There is not a little chromium switch on our fears,
Unless you meditate. Zen to me is the switch.
Too bad I am not a student of it.
Not to do a lot of jaw flappin about that
I dread sitting out on my porch these days
My neighbor always recaps the news for me.
He of the abdominal scar and the worrisome blood work
I let him down I turn off my compassion
I just can't stand to hear about the latest news
The horror stories he repeats

Our amygdala is hard wired,
it pours out stress hormones,

so give the beat boys
I want to get lost in your rock and roll
there ain't no cure for the summertime blues
we are ready for fight flight an acute stress responce,
The difference us and the tiger is we are so smart
risk assessment
we are so smart we inform our amygdala
fear is infectous
we spread our imagined fears
our risk assessment is impaired by our obsession with the news
passion and courage and love arise from the same brain area as our fears
music
music
more music

we need Buddha bytes
not sound bytes

got dam fear mongers
we need love mongers
done ranting about fear

now I am going to do my nails

just before dawn

sky

full moon

faint rainbow

sunrise expected soon

clouds

distant thunder

wishing for a desert sky on a clear night in winter

and the waltz to begein

i wish i had a garden
Image
i wish i could step outside
with dill flooding my nostrils
hyssop and roses entwined
shy flying insects whizzing
a windchimed afterthought
neighbours away
perfectly people free

the smell of solitude
in lush leisure

mini oasis
will do
scent of herbs
on the deck
flowers blooming
silence of the city
in the morn
my bird singing
a multi layered song
the wind chimes silent
still hot summer daze............

garden oasis of potted plants
morning glories galore in four inch strip of dirt between sidewalk and building
silent morning
faint thunder is gone
no chance of rain
six one gallon jugs of water
my morning mission
the best part of my day

I will see and smell my jazmines paraguayos at midday
more precious now
that I am with them only once a week
smell activating times
downtown jazmines
barrios azahares and jazmines
you can´t avoid feel them
and search them while you walk

I can remember every song she loved
give me a beat boys that frees my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll

spiderwoman's daughter
fourteen the last time I saw her
her daughter her self
as close as I have ever felt to having a daughter of my own
years later she passed through Virginia looking for me
but i was on the road, always on the road

and now I remember another song she loved

Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind

Jasmine is fine when it's burning
but raw I prefer gardenias and honeysuckle
the naked fragrance of sex
the come hither smell
paints a stretched out portrait
of windless yearning
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."
