So, Vice President Cheney shot a lawyer yesterday. This, in and of itself, doesn't bother me. I think more lawyers should be shot.
The Vice President was shooting at a quail when he hit the lawyer. I suppose that is representative of his marksmanship. When he was supposedly shooting at Osama bin Laden, he hit Saddam Hussein.

Media frenzy intensifies over Cheney shooting incident
By Linda Feldmann
excerpt:
Musing … “Feeds the impression” (and) or accurately depicts? Accurately depicts. Still, even those in stanch support are at least “wondering” about this administration – as well they should.
May their "impression" be feed so much, that it gets so fat ... that even the most blind can't help but finally 'see it!'

Media frenzy intensifies over Cheney shooting incident
By Linda Feldmann
excerpt:
..."feeds the impression that they are above taking responsibility and acknowledging mistakes..." ?"It makes you wonder, when they have so many problems, why they would let this fester the way they have," says Cal Jillson, a political expert at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
All Cheney had to do was come out and "say something human," he says. "You say, 'This is a terrible thing, I'm very sorry that it happened, my heart goes out to Harry and his family.' Then get out of the way and let the story finish itself off."
Instead, Mr. Jillson says, events were spun from the start. Cheney supporters' initial reaction was that Whittington was at fault for not making his presence known as he approached Cheney from behind. "It just feeds the impression that this White House is above taking responsibility and acknowledging mistakes," he says.

Not that it matters but only a moron would go quail hunting with a long barreled shot gun that was intended for skeet shooting.
If they are such idiots, how did they get elected twice? Just how extensive is voter fraud? I am stumped. Do we get the government we deserve?
Sen Grassley on NPR, spouting the line for November,
9/11 and gay marriage. Caller calls in to ask about budget cuts for his son's student loans and grants. Grassley talks about Harry Truman making budget cuts during the Korean war. Yeah right, but Old Harry wasn't cutting taxes too.
You know what, I think the Republicans are going to win in November. Do you think women are more susceptable to fear tactics than men. I mean men are more litkely to fall for the patriotic bullshit, but they say the security moms tipped the vote for him. Hell I don't even know if there is such a thing. Reify.
Second time I am asking you this WD. You know how dumb I am about women. And Inquiring mind would like to know what you think? Am I being sexist?
Oh Never mind. I suppose I will take Ellen's word for it.

I thought your questions were rhetorical, especially when you give yourself the answers. But if you’re wondering if I agree with you that fear was the main reason; my answer is yes I do.You know what, I think the Republicans are going to win in November. Do you think women are more susceptable to fear tactics than men. I mean men are more litkely to fall for the patriotic bullshit, but they say the security moms tipped the vote for him. As for the sexist aspect? That’s your issue/label/perspective … and while it has a part in it all; it’s not the whole of it.
Fear is fear, different people fear different things, at different times, for different reasons …some sound, and some not. Fear of the unknown - Fear of death. Those are the two biggies.
And security is an abstract, a fiction, a myth … that most people have forgotten that this is so, as well as having become complacent about.
I take a chance every time I walk out my front door, get in my car to drive, or evening using my toaster in the morning. I take a chance living in California – where earthquakes happen every single day: http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recent/index.html"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." – Helen Keller
If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom. – Dwight D. Eisenhower
Bush won because people bought into the myth that if they give up their freedoms, and make others give them up too ... they will be safe & secure -- but it was a lie, a trick as deep as the WMD's.
People bought into it because they were scared. They were scared from 9/11, they were scared because gays were getting too much political power ... and so on; and their fears made them vulnerable, and in their vulnerability, in their fear; Bush&Co took advantage of them. They lied to mislead, and sold a vulnerable people, a well conceived and delivered packaged ill goods.
But like all lies, and liars .. the truth continues to rises to the surface... where some will see it and recognized it, and others won’t.
C’est la vie!
Life’s a risk …but it’s not as risky as some (such as Bush&Co) would have us believe…
http://www.weforum.org/site/homepublic. ... sk+Network
“Have us believe…”
That’s the thing about myths (fantasies, lies) ~ they all require our continued beliefs in them for their success. And truths, the facts, what IS, just keeps rising to the surface … to be seen, over & over again. Like that CSM article stated: “making people wonder…” (question, think twice, thing again…)
But there is another part too… people had to find out, via experience, the answer to the inner question “Do you really want to lose your freedoms? Do you really want to live like that, a life like that, a country like that?”
Experience is a great teacher, and sometimes we learn much more, and much more quickly, from our mistakes than our successes.
I've rambled on long enough .... and sweet life, off the board, is beckoning ...

sweet life off the board indeed
I am looking down the boards and I see stilltrucking 18 times. I can't tell you how scared I been the last month. Talk about superstitious it was as if I had manifested my worst fear. I leaned hard on this place to escape reality. I hope you have a sweet day and thanks for the reply.
