as i walked by

"Look at Me! Look at Me! I'm prettier than the sea!"

i laughed
at this log mimic
and his fantasy of snake he sees himself to be ...

he seemed to smile at my thoughts

so i took his picture, wished him well
and continued on my way

just a sea's gift without sender
salty water & sand envelope
waves sound, the postage stamp
asking for asking
our feet so firm earth for a moment
between the grains

i slip into the shadows between the grains
it's cool in there, and easy to spread out in all directions
connected to the deepest parts in the ocean

the path to the deepests parts of our hearts
