watermelon man

Post by faithmairee » June 20th, 2006, 8:26 pm

it's that time of year
the watermelon man
boasting with pride
sets out the biggest
most succulent
homegrown watermelons
infront of his
fruit and veggie stand
his best harvest fruit
bringing in top sales
for there is no one
in this small port town
that doesn't like those
sweet, juicy watermelons
he peddles when summer comes
There must be a poem in here somewhere.

maybe the four wandering days yes
maybe the windows still open at night yes

what I am saying here?

The morning after
The last day of school
The day that would never come
Now awake in your bed calculating
an endless summer of freedom
That is how I want to feel when I die
A happy old man looking foward to one more summer.

mmm... there are also little deaths
(two weeks without official work in two weeks)
and total freedom is an abstraction, friend

summer, summer
what am I saying here..??

Which side it up anyway?
If I stood on my head
would it be fall in north america?

Who made that map?

Why is North up
and south down
or can we flip it all around?

dog gone this must be a pop quiz
not a jam

summer days

Post by faithmairee » June 20th, 2006, 9:11 pm

summer days were made
for swimming at the lake
grilling burgers and
getting tanned or baked
for hotdogs, popsicles
and strawberry shortcake
for backyard bird-watching
and avoiding garden snakes
There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Barefoot.
Bare back.
Thread-bare
blue-jean shorts.
Weather reports
of storms to brew;
news of traffic jams
on the bridge to the
shore and more
watermelon than
anybody can possibly
eat. A summer would
not be complete without
watermelon and bare
feet.

Summer,
how sad
that winter is just sixth months away.

Stay Summer stay.
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

one long night
and the days grow longer
simple pleasure of watching the seasons change

nothing like a seeing a friendly face
to melt the ice of an old heart
friendship is the sunshine in our hearts

summer time and the living is easy
California peaches eighty nine cents a pound
I can live on peaches

Peach me summer

Peaches
are fluffed fuzzed
flesh, tasty with
a tart kinda sweet-
blessed sour sorta
sensation.
Gimme the fruit
of creation!
Peachtree glamor.
What the heck.
Runs neck-to-neck
with succulent ads
depicting graduates
receiving diplomas in
a vineyard. It's a hard
thing trying to decipher
another season.
The reason for this
is unclear. Dear me,
I am so confused when
it comes to peaches.

And yet
I have not reached
my maximum summer
fruit detail.

Second summer solstice for me this year.
But thanks for the invite and all the
wonderful words, rippling and tumbling
to late evenings and hot daze.

Peace,

Sierra

cool jam
i'm listening to the Hair
soundtrack
yum
fun
heavy
and all that
too hot to be in the sun
it burnith me
so here i be
free to jam a moment
having an Aquarius moment
(in a Capricorn mind)
and feeling love
and seeking peace
it's one of those moments
when the heart smiles
and we are blessed with friends
and starshine
and the poetry of life
which we share
love
love
love
group hug
read me, but don't play me backwards

ah th snowbirds are all gone
the streets are peaceful once again
masses of motorists motoring north
left behind the simmering south
and sweltering sun
up before dawn
and lingering on
not just lazy
more like dead beat
can't beat th heat
gettin warmer, hotter all th time
wanting thunderclouds to break that infernal shine
ode to the sun
you won.
i'm on a survival mission
yo ho ho an a bottle of rum om
