karma

Post by Doreen Peri » August 15th, 2004, 10:29 pm

karma doesn't owe anyone.
karma is two bit whore on a corner post
focused way beyond collection
and alliteration, the creation of debt
a matter of imaginary calculation
devised by a con.

karma puts pretense on
like a deed due, hours of contemplation
askew, an unrenewed book or tape
from a local rental store.

karma doesn't understand reasoning.
she doesn't account for investments.
she is a nihilistic curse blurred by
resentments and harlequin ways.
the only time karma stays put
is when karma plays the numbers
herself, rigging the machine.

karma is a mean twit.
she fools the steam off paved driveways
with a wink, stinks up a fix before you have
the chance to dance with a rush.

karma sucks
gusts from a whirlwind treatise,
promising to come back
promising to return.

the burn of karma's never
severs the meaning of fair.

karma doesn't care.
karma doesn't freaking care.

i see her scare
from its native habitat,
her synapses trap chemical
possible combinations but i am
not afraid. karma makes the
bed she's made a gift to crawl
into.

karma is a liar.
karma is a saint.
she warms my feet
even though i ain't
gay.

karma consistently has
the last word to say.

i owe her nothing.
she owes me naught
i'd remember her name
for a minute or two before
i forgot.

Karma... luck or work..... fate or divine monkey business?

Post by magicmystery » August 15th, 2004, 11:03 pm

You know, Doreen, I have been waiting along time to read another one of your poems.... you indeed have a gift making word walk (no..... swagger) off the page. And in these types .... you only throw in the rhyme when you want us alerted to the crime, like a knife just sharp from the stone, still with deposits of itself on the blade.... very effective.
Now to the subject.... Karma.... I don't try to be the superstitious type.... but it just always seems to happen to me like this... at the time that I am trying desperately to work things out one way, someone or something comes along that I have no choice but to turn out and away.... of course I try to be kind..... but it gets tiring after a while when I know that the next step in that parade is that I don't get what you have been working so hard toward just because I was unavoidably mean to them..... Karma disgusts me!!! but your poem painted her well.

karma..

Post by mnaz » August 15th, 2004, 11:07 pm

karma belongs to the club
the one you might like to look in on
if you found the right keyhole
the club with the dead rhythm

like the other clubs
out in a strand of nebula..
the ones the prophets frequent
tuned into origin frequencies

rest assured karma will be answered
but only in her own time
just as the continents collide
and mountains are born

the problem is i cannot see
karma coming back at me in advance -
nor can i chance the possibility of
a peripheral nod.

karma is an odd
sort of mistress.
she resists dead rhythm clubs
with keyhole eyes, lies to her own
constituencies.

if karma couldn't see me,
i'd be blind to her vision.
karma is the continual
supersticion.

karma creates
mesmerized states,
thanks those who came
to name a presence.

i am karma personified,
wide the lens, acceptant
of offerings.

i have no other way
to answer other than
gratitude. karma
may be a word dancer
or a cancer, or a gift.

all i can do is follow the lift
of her latitude, her vision.
her myth, listless
like a breath, dismissed.

karma... reprise

Post by mnaz » August 15th, 2004, 11:58 pm

karma is a trickster..
comfortably ensconced in her villa
on the space-time continuum
watching the waves of history
wash up on the shore... an interlude

karma has many blind spots
though she never intended it that way
but let's not be too charitable
she is here to elate and confound
and she usually shows up too late

Karma,
comes from the word
boomerango,
and that's a form of the
tango,
with a twist,
on the cha cha cha.

Karma,
is an island off
of coney,
the place they hide all the
balony,
with a quick wink,
and a ha ha ha.

Karma,
hits when you least
expect it,
so it's impossible to
deflect it,
with a tsk tsk,
and a la dee dah.

Karma,
comes to visit whenever she
wants to,
first, she usually
haunts you,
takes the life right out,
of your tra la la.

another crutch to clutch

Karma is a nice idea;
a hope that floats
beyond our graves.
Karma reeks of motivation,
of a delicate balance
and a worthy trade.

But people
are cheated
every day.

Hey everybody! Nice to see you again. I was really loving these Karma poems and just had to add my voice to the chorus. (Yours really gave me a great giggle Hes!) Awesome site Doreen! :D

Desert loving in your eyes all the way.
If I listen to your lies would you say
I'm a man without conviction,
I'm a man who doesn't know
how to sell a contradiction.
You come and go,
you come and go.
Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red gold and green, red gold and green.
Don't hear your wicked words every day
and you used to be so sweet, I heard you say
that my love was an addiction.
When we cling our love is strong.
When you go you're gone forever.
You string along, you string along.
Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red gold and green, red gold and green.
Every day is like survival,
you're my lover, not my rival.
Every day is like survival,
you're my lover, not my rival.
I'm a man without conviction,
I'm a man who doesn't know
how to sell a contradiction.
You come and go, you come and go.
Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red gold and green, red gold and green.
Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red gold and green, red gold and green.
Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red gold and green, red gold and green.

karma is a stripper
she teases and blinks
and advertises that which is not for sale.

karma is a bandit magician
sawed in half, submerged in the death tank
karma is houdini replete and escaping.

karma is the classic bulemic
eating and vomiting, eating and vomiting
the mock of cycles, fixed dimensions.

karma is a hooker, no, just a soft hook
I'll suck your cock for a car payment or a rock
but only if you want to, that's the charm of karma:

You make your choices and you take your chances.
karma is a joker and laughs in abandon
karma gives you four quarters for a dollar.

Karma wears masks and mirrors
Karma enjoys reading magazines
and talking a lot when I don«t want to hear explanations
Karma is a word in a book
Last time we met it was a tidy accountant
and I was searching some levity

I knew karma when she was just a puff of G*d's fluff.
back before the cold war but after the second
I spent a long night at the Pentagon
Crazy mike playing chess with the Russians
Washington Chess Divan had made arrangements with The then so called War Department to play by short wave radio or something like it.

I fell asleep on a stack of mail bags
Crazy mike made a crack at me about
don't piss on them.

Doreen your puffs, fluffs and huffs and karmic rants are dear to me
seem so clear to me. I suppose that must be something like what poetry is supposed to be.
thank you
for the poem
sorry for the personal flash back
just say hi jack

and thank you for editing the code on the avatar and tag line.

That works ok for me
But sometimes I think the children are getting short changed
Karma and Grace, wasn't that the name of a TV show?

nice poem Clay, I just can't resist a jam.

I just got here
doreen wrote

when push comes to shove
and east meets west
Karma and Fortuna
shoot craps with Einsteins bones
even if it was my karma to be an untouchable.

karma can lift you up
or push you down
I wish I could have been born a Hindu
or even a Catholic.
such a comforitng religion
a cause for every effect
nothing new under the sun.
but I still believe in serendipity

what the hell can I say
I loved your poem
but I lost the thread at magicmystery's reply.

What a string :D
everyday a new treasure.

I still don't understand mystery ladies reply

Karma, but a five letter word
pregnant with far more than just label.
Cosmic law, you can run
but you can't hide.
Newtonian simplicity: for every action
an equal and opposite reaction.
Contempory actions elude no time -
karma is cosmic, flip side
of one coin, no matter
how high it is flipped.
Karma's only slayer -
dharma.
