Why does Studio Eight work?
It's because of you. Anybody can download and install a phpbb bulletin board. It's not the software that makes this place so special, it's the content. I've been to many internet bulletin boards and this one has a rare ambience.
Doreen's banners add a great touch, but it is your content that makes this place what it is.
Ok, there is another reason. It's because most of us have known each other, either in person or through the internet, for years. We are a community, a tribe. Yes, mostly we talk about art and our successes and our struggles, but we also know a bit about what is going on in each other's daily lives.
As I have said before, I think we are lucky to have such a community of misfits and outcasts. Reminds me of the 'Book People' in Fahrenheit 451.
I'm looking forward to the new phase of studio 8.

soppy old git!
A bit of your post made me think of something I did recently with a friend I don't get to see as often as I'd like...
we each took a notepad and pencil, and camera around with is the whole day and recorded the whole thing for the other person.
I think she got the idea from an online thing somewhere. there are a few rules, such as, you have to include several photos of "the time" maybe a photo of you (NO LIES!) first thing in the morning before the cement and coffee...
it may be a good idea to try here. I'll post this elsewhere actually, eh?

Because LitKicks is no more and Studio 8 had to come into play otherwise we would have been lost with out a place to be.

Studio eight has that certain something, that Litkicks could never quite muster. We come here for a reason outside of the usual reasons. To get away from the mundane, return to our poet selves. There is so much absolute brillance on these threads, discussions, culture, creative writing to name a bit of it. There are no prejudicial controls based on someone's idea of self importance around their own prose.
So many times I'll be reading posts on this site that I know would blow the Master's away, the beat writers too...I mean, to me, mainstream just does not compare. I'd rather be reading from here, there's more substance!.....and I'm honored to be writing here with the others. It's a gift....studio eight is.

Studio eight works b/c it is one of the most badass sites on the web for writers like us today. Studio eight works b/c it was tailor made for people who think like us, who thrive in the arts and literature. Studio eight works b/c we care enough about each other to want to keep in touch, keep that village we created on litkicks alive. Studio eight works b/c that's what it was meant to do, and b/c D would put us all in the corner and make us think about our actions if it didn't.

It's a place to hang my prose
pick my nose
and be real
not necessarily in that order.
left out in the cold
not a snowball's chance in hell
I nearly froze
until I found shelter

I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

Yanno? You've been saying that for 3 years since this site started. Why in the heck do you keep saying it? I know you're trying to be funny but it's not funny any more... i didn't think it was funny before either, to tell you the truth.Lightning Rod wrote: As I have said before, I think we are lucky to have such a community of misfits and outcasts.

This community is not a community of misfits and outcasts.
So, cut the comedy. Thanks.
