the letter "a"
the letter "a"
the letter "a" is a desolate angel
but she's not alone
forever hungry
she lunches on vibrating alligators
sings them close
then into her mouth
the 'gators go for it
every time
and so the alligators
enter desolation and curse
their reptilian heritage
to the very end
for they will never see
the sun again
it will not be as alligators
that they discover the blues
but she's not alone
forever hungry
she lunches on vibrating alligators
sings them close
then into her mouth
the 'gators go for it
every time
and so the alligators
enter desolation and curse
their reptilian heritage
to the very end
for they will never see
the sun again
it will not be as alligators
that they discover the blues

what a great thing
Lightning - i listened to that whole piece & watched that record go round & round & when it was over i started laughing...i laughed going down the stairs, laughed as i grabbed my lunch, laughed going out the door, laughed as i got in my primered '81 Cordoba, laughed as i fired that old girl up and pulled out on the blacktop...i walked thru the door at work still laughing and the guy at the gate said "what are you laughing about? You're late!" and i laughed all the way down the hall and out to the backroom...a big heartfelt thx, Lightning, from the bottom of my ragged heart...how i have missed you all!Lightning Rod wrote:Alligator Blues

Dear the mingo,
Well, I read your poem, so I figured I'd comment. I haven't seen your name since the old litkicks days. Do you remember me from back then? I don't think I remember you ever posting here. I didn't know you knew about this place. I've seen others mention you before. I think it was jack who keeps bringing your name up. (stilltrucking, gypsyjoker, and a couple of other screen names he has). Someone ... I think it's him... has said on here that they miss "the mingo." Did you have another screen name here or something? I see you mention renewing your account.
Anyway, this is more of a line, because as I understand that term, it's a letter of some sort and all I said at the beginning was that I liked your poem. I did like the lines in your poem. Very true. So in that respect, it was also a line, maybe but not really because a line is like something that someone says that's not true, like guys use lines on me a lot but what can you do? You know they're lines but you smile anyway. But in this case, I really DO like your poem, so it wasn't a line. It was true. And it wasn't a letter like this is which is more of like "dropping a line" as I said before.
Well, it's been nice but I best get back to it. To what?, you may ask. Oh a lot of things, I'd answer if you did. But if you didn't ask, that would be OK, also. Whatever you like. Enjoy our day.
Sincerely,
-doreen peri

I liked the poem
D
it put in mind of Lou Salome
I think you are thinking of TK, he mentions mr mingo a lot.
I have replied to a couple of his poems but I don't remember talking much about him.
