Who Can I Be?

Post by Michael » December 30th, 2004, 9:59 pm

No longer available for listening.

People talking through their minds,
wasting time.
Saying words that often rhyme
and I find

I see people,
pretty people,
but it seems they don’t see me.
Who can I be?

Colored lights inside my brain;
can’t explain
why these lights are all insane,
just the same.

I see people,
pretty people,
but it seems they don’t see me.
Who can I be?

So I can’t really see
what the gods all want of me.
Some say killing is no good.
Others tell me that I should.

So the gold inside my head
turns to red
and the colors are all dead
sounds instead.

I hear people,
crying people,
but it seems they won’t hear me.
Who can I be?

So I can’t really see
what the gods all want of me.
Some say killing is no good.
Others tell me that I should.

So the gold inside my head
turns to red
and the colors are all dead
sounds instead.

I hear people,
dying people,
but it seems they can’t hear me.
Who can they be?

Well, I can hear you, Michael! And I'm very glad I listened!

Though I do know you, I know I don't know precisely who you are or who I am for that matter, or who all those other people are, but I know when I hear a fine songwriter and when I listen to your tunes, that's what I know.

Again, in this one, I heard Beatles influence plus a little reggae.... very nice arrangement... sad but honest lyrics... Nice!

Would you be interested in mailing me a CD of these so I put them up on the Indie Music page on the main site?

Doreen,

I can do one of two things.

First, let me preface this by saying that, although I wouldn’t presume to compare my talent to Paul Simon except to say, “He’s good and I sing, play and record”, my music does pass the Paul Simon brevity test.

I’m making a CD from the songs I’m posting. It’s called “Life; The Musical”.

There are 12 songs on the disc and it’s only a little over 37 minutes long. Hey, it goes with my general physical stature.

Anyway, with the few CDs that are still being made in lieu of playlist portable media, you won’t find many of them that are less than 40 minutes and, unlike vinyl, you remember vinyl, don’t you, most are closer to an hour long.

They either have a few 8-10 minute songs or one hell of a lot of 3 minute songs.

Where am I going with all of these words? Hmmm. Oh, yeah.

I have 240 of these things still left to record – maybe day after tomorrow. I do, however, want my CDs to hit the magical 40 minute mark which, in my case, may be another 2 or 3 songs – well, maybe 1.

When I finish my first pass of “Life; The Musical” – I’m not nearly satisfied with the music as it is now – I’ll send you a copy

Or

I can send you what I have now.

I do think one more song ought to do it, even one of my songs.

Let me know.

Meanwhile, thanks for listening and thanks for the heart felt compliment. It means a lot to me coming from you.
