Rosetta Stone - learning other languages

Post by Doreen Peri » July 27th, 2008, 12:52 pm

http://www.rosettastone.com/

I swear to god something is messed up in my head. Every time I see an infomercial I want to buy whatever it is they're selling. heh..

It's a good thing I'm broke, or I'd be broke! ;)

But seriously.... I'm very interested in this Rosetta Stone software that teaches you languages.

It's a fantasy for me... to learn to speak Italian, then go live in Italy for a year or two. Learn to speak French, live in Paris for another year. Learn to speak Spanish, take a trip to South America, hang out for a while.

These are fantastic dreams! I love these fantasies!

Anyway, just wondering if any of you are familiar with this software. They claim they can teach a language to an adult quite quickly and it's not just speaking, they also teach how to read and write the language.

Have any of you used this software or know someone who has?

Tell me if it works or not.

It certainly is impressive advertising. It would appear that they software would greatly assist the interested student in learning a new language, but the strong point here is 'interested'. If one is not interested enough to dedicate their time to mastering both the software and the language itself, the money investment only improves The Rosetta Stone's profit margin. ;)
