KayKay picked me up at work
in a black caddy limousine
complete with chauffeur
she wanted to go to the beach
Dallas is 400 miles from the nearest beach
but KayKay wanted to go to the beach
and the limo was hers
we left at midnight and arrived at dawn
listened to Rush all night
I hate Rush
for that matter I hate the ocean
it's an annoying environment
almost as bad as Rush
too much noise, too much wind
and salt and gritty sand
strictly for crabs and romantics
KayKay had fake fingernails that were much too long
she was only five-foot-two
it's all a matter of ratio
did I say I hate the beach?
KayKay talks too loud, but I love her for it
we stand on the jetty in Galveston
I defy the Gulf with my flute
the seawall is not threatened this morning
we ate shrimp for breakfast
I had to be at work by noon.

Dallas to Glaveston is less than three hundred miles
about a four hour drive
but not when you have a poetic license
it would seem like a thousand miles if I had to listen to rush all night
yes I don't like the ocean either
also mountains piss me off
and women who laugh at my erection
or anything else that makes me feel insignificant
a question of ratio I suppose
a good story
I liked the bit about the fingernails too
that's a good shot
I am sure she had it coming.
