The End Game
Calvin Trillin

With only 15 months left in office, President Bush has left whole agencies of the executive branch to be run largely by acting or interim appointees. --the New York Times

They're making few appointments now.
This crowd is almost out the door.
The Bushies' clock is winding down.
They've just got time for one more war.

weather broke here
finally feels like october

nothing personal
what has love got to do with it
sorry about that

if I can get myself together
I may head downtown and stand on that corner again
More honks of appreciation from passing cars
than red necked hecklers

Going to make me a little cardboard sign
"Will work for peace"

I missed the reply about Trillin article
oatmeals getting cold check it out later

Stark initially refused to apologize but finally backed down under pressure from Democratic leaders. Stark says he apologized in part to focus attention on the issues, not on his comments.

Rush Limbaugh would not make a pimple on Pete Stark's ass.

I knew about Hoover and his secrete files. But they say the Mafia had a file on Hoover and his boyfriend. That is why he let them conduct business as usual they say. Who knows?
homosexuality of J. Edgar Hoover

The idea of Bush sending men to die for his amusement makes me think of Nero and Caligula. I suppose in his own way Bush is just as nutz.
They say render unto Caesar , but that was when Caesar was a pagan, that was the good old days

Sad that they made him say sorry.
There is just no other word for it but sad.
Well, maybe weak.
Lame.
Frustrating.
Disconcerting.
Then it fades away and I don't think about it any longer.....
