Muleshoe, Texas has the largest bird wildlife refuge in the entire state.
Each year on the first weekend in November, people from all over the country come to the wildlife refuge to see the migration of the Whooping Crane
November.
It would be so cool to meet you all.
If not muleshoe maybe Dallas, or
Karl's Corner Truck Stop near where Clay had his geodesic dome, or any wherever.
I would walk from Boulder to Birmingham.
We can dream, we can keep the faith.

November? But then we couldn't use the pool.
But seriously.... November? really?

I don't know when or where, I am only hoping that a small cirlcle of friends can get together sometime.
Muleshoe and Dallas might as well be on Alpha Centauri for me.
All I can do is hope the way I did when I was a kid
when everyone I loved would get together and say
Next Year in Jerusalem.
I will start trying to get the dough together. Maybe by november.
I am hoping it will work out to be somewhere in Texas.
Because I got the metafiscal blues again.

could we take over a nearby bar or restaurant one night and bring a mic and do some spoken word?
wouldn't this be cool?
"The Studio Eight Center of the Universe Writers & Artists Revival Festival!"
heh...

I thought you were suggesting Muleshoe because that's where you live.
That's not where you live?
Where do you live? We'll come to you.

Ok sure, I am still waiting for Santa Claus to bring me my job with Yellow Freight and twenty five years seniority.
Even the thought of seeing you all makes me want to say "Somebody shot me while I am happy"
I live in San Antonio Texas. 275 miles from Clay, about 600 from Cecil and SooZen and about 150 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

ELP to Muleshoe - 333 miles... half way to San ANTonio
November is the whooping crane spectacle which would raise the price of rooms considerably, wouldn't it? When is the slow season when the rates are cheapest..?

600 miles is an ass-breaker... not impossible but very tough.. takes time that has to be rationed.

Hesty. Good times. Good conversation. Good company. Despite the recent struggles for both of us, you inspired me. You never fail to inspire me with a basic sort of positivity and hope, and I thank you for that. It's quite a gift! Let's do it again some time. It's been an awfully long damn winter and the "festival season" is starting to crank up around here...
also... umm.... Texas is quite big, isn't it? Is it really 600 mi from ELP to San Antone? Wow.

815 miles from ELP to Texarkana... i was unable to make it and had to stop just east of Dallas to get some much needed rest... along with Soo and Nate.

Damn, let's do it. Let's have a studio eight festival. Let's buy a couple of buses, one on the east coast, one on the west, paint em up like Kesey did, pick everyone up, and meet mid USA somewhere for a week. Maybe we could find some rich benevolent soul who would donate the buses for our Festival, you know a couple of old greyhounds or schoolbuses. We could paint them enroute to the festival!!!!!!!
East meets West, and West meets East and the art will flow like wine!
I'll be waitin on the side of the road,
lookin fine and dandy,
with a big bag a candy,
all dressed up in buttons and bows...
lala
la..... la!........
C'mon folks, let's plan it!
Notify the media. Get some financial backing from somewhere.....put yere thinkin caps on!
It's time dammit.
