I hesitate to give you grammatical advice, since you write English better than I do, and it's my native tongue (that is, if you classify Texanese as English.)

I would get rid of the awkward 'it's its' thing by rephrasing the statement.

"The stream of my mind creates it's own watery eddies."

or something like that

okay - seems the it's-thing is just solvable through re-composing the sentence, and that the general 'it' (as in it's hot - it's obvious - it's me who is weird) cannot be used together with the plural form in english (not: it's us who is/are weird).

The pural form of "it" in such cases is actually "it." Isn't that wonderful?
The English language was never really thought through.

I should clarify though; statements such as "It is (insert rest of statement here)" are considered bad practice and are discouraged by grammar teachers.

I, however, am not a grammar teacher. I bet I could become one rather easily though.
