Of course it looks like trouble. Nothin' but a whole lotta trouble goin' on. I know trouble when they see it too. What if they tried to start a world war and everyone just kinda rolled over and hit snooze?...

it's all about running out of gas, mark

there are three BP pipelines running through Georgia

it is not unknown in history for the British to launch wars to protect their commercial interests. It's the imperial style. We learned from the best, the sun sets in the west but never on the Empire.

Sure it would be nice to just roll over. Hit the snooze. But these people have real tanks and real soldiers and real atomic bombs and real missiles with which to deliver them. We're not dealing with towel heads on camels here. This is not some phantom organization from an Ian Flemming novel like Al Queda.

Our careless invasions of both Afghanistan and Iraq have accomplished exactly the opposite of the stated intention of 'stabilizing the region'. They have destabilized the region. Have you forgotten about the thousands of nukes that still reside in every Jackoffistan in the region?

yes, it's all about running out of gas

Okay fine. Understood. In a way you're almost helping to make my point(s). A lot of the Georgian mess is fallout from the careless, lawless, destabilizing US/UK aggression in the Mid-east-- Iraq in particular-- and the world has been onto that bullshit from Day One. Hell, even the thick-headed US electorate (judging by polls) started to get it somewhat in the last year or so. So if the world smells a rat here, or a whole unnecessary chest-thumping chain reaction of them, then why would it march off to fight a world war and risk nuke meltdown over a couple of pipelines? I mean the militaristic agendas of these goddamned oil companies and their stooge politicians are becoming ever more apparent, and don't exactly rate high on anyone's patriotic sympathy list these days.

Or so I'd like to think. Is my naive meter running a little high again?
