Thanks for reading, Mnaz, or whatever...
Here's another to knock you down with a feather...
Obama's magic feather...

"Bejeweled bird Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

Spells may be broken,
But at the moment,
Viewing a peacock has
Gotten my mind
All turquoise & venetian blue...
A salute to Spring & you!
True blue, says the bird,
Before spreading finery,
Takes my brain to the winery!

(Also see version on Judih's "Apathetic Peacock")

"Abracadabra Penny Haiku"
by Steve Plonk

(a)
Presto change-o,
Nothing ventura, nothing gains-o.
Smoke and mirrors,
Mission procurers.
With magic feathers,
Ventured clearers,
Accumulated treasures,
Through rose-colored glasses...
Some opposition are tools,
Obama still rules...
He de man,
With a winning hand...
Cryptic sayings
Double dosed playings,
With "Moosehead" beer...
***
(b)
Just got in the clear
Bluebird has come near,
World spins 'round,
Coming back to town,
With feather in my cap,
Got my lip starting to flap,
With my tongue full of syrup-sap,
Hello out there old chap...
***
(c)
Now my flag's unfurled,
I'm nekkid to the world,
Been through something funny,
With my longtime honey,
The world is napping,
My tongue's still a-flapping,
Shooting the breeze,
Nekkid at my knees,
I salute all those who fly,
Or who're about to die,
Or those who make it,
Away from death's eye...
***
(d)
Away from the saddening crowd,
I pause for station identification,
I'm popping with populist pride,
For our mighty majestic nation...
I stand with my heart covered
By my hand, in civilian salute,
For this wonderful land,
With a mighty breeze blowing
At my old silverback,
I praise and wave at mighty stripes & stars.

"Widow's Mites from Heaven Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

Eh, Everything changes
In an instant, like yeah,
The luck of the draw...
You are the actor
You are the stage
Speaking words of surreality...
G-d is the audience,
With a few internet friends--
Even presidents may read
A few lines before bed...
There's no strength,
Just differing degrees of weaknesses,
Life is a soccer game or a tire swing,
Wars and peace come and go,
Perpetually in flux, like the floods
Or the dry spells...
Checking the weather report...
What's new, folks?
Shed a little light on me...

"Pie in the Sky Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

Sing songs of six pence
Pocket full of sky
Twenty thousand poppies
Baked in a pie
When the pie was opened
'Lady Morphine' was there
Soon everybody
Was pulling up a chair--
Boom! The whole room
Was floating in the air...
Where is the antidote
When living on the float?

"Friendly Pooches I have Known, Penny Haiku Series"
By Steve Plonk

(a)
Where the trees are nice & shady,
Walks a little black dog on a leash
Called baby Sadie,
She is a "jack russell" & rat terrier mix
Who wags her tail like a drum on boxes
Licks my hand and scatters her kibble,
After a perfunctory gobble & a nibble...

(b)
Sadie & I saunter here & over there
Where the dabbled shaded breezes air,
Sadie sniffs squirrels up trees,
Listens to the birds chirp & buzzing of sweat bees,
Sees a stray piece of cheddar cheese to seize,
Piddles about next to the dogwoods breeze,
Not to mention the scent of honeysuckle & "fleur de lis"
Which if she snuffs too hard, they make her sneeze...
Just a day in dogs life & mine
I think little black Sadie baby is just so fine.

"Nightlight Catalog Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

Red light
Green light
Yellow light
Headlight
Taillight
Parking Light
Signal light
Kleig light
Footlight
Streetlight
Runway light
Starlight
All so lighted
In Moonlight
So we can see
At night--
See, up there,
Planes lighted in flight...
Welcome to night
Light land of nod...

chickens sometimes sound mocking
christmas trees and flocking
nothing that is ever real hurts like terrorism- not mistaking it for love is our hormonal mistake-
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Thank you, Creativesoul, here's another bunch,
for your mind to lunch...

"Feathered Proclamation Penny Haiku Series"
By Steve Plonk

(a)
Robins sing,
Mockingbirds cry
We feel so fly
Time to proclaim
Christmas in July...
Why not in that month
Instead of December?
A month, July, that glows like an ember,
Hot, like a "Cinderella", sweet July...

(b)
Holly bushes grow year round,
Shouldn't Christmas cheer resound
Even in July? Like Pentecost in May?
What a strange church calendar
We have anyway!?

(c)
Christmas stays put while Easter
Moves around like moon's firefly.
So, this year, let Christmas
Spread itself around--
Let's share the joy in
Our midsummer's night dream!

(d)
Birds on the fly
Like to feather their nests in July
Speak with tweets and chirps
Quote songs which last
Carols of hatching eggs & flight
Way into the starlight night.

Thanx! Creativesoul. I currently am out on the patio listening to "Sussudio"(sic).
Soon we'll be headed to Riverbend Festival in nearby Chattanooga, TN. 8)

AGAPE PENNY HAIKU
by Steve Plonk

I don't have big money, nor fame--
I don't have a job
That brings public acclaim--
But I think I
Have a gift from above:
My conscience overflows
With brotherly love...

"Horizon Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

Like all good poems
The cream rises to the top
Like in an old milk bottle--
So I push in the old throttle,
Clearing a mental hurdle,
Get poems out fast
Before they curdle--
***
Herein is a poem
I chose for you
'Cause I didn't
Have a rose for you--
A figurative rose in my teeth,
To cheat the time thief
Who steals the minutes away...
On the horizon, I glimpse
That butt crack of dawn,
Keep the keyboard a-moving on...
With more cynicisms & witticisms,
Just for the eternal you...
