just realized my life
is a caricature of a life that

but got out of bed this morning
and ain't stumbled yet
in many instances the threat of mate
is only that - just a threat
you have to pay attention of course
because a threat of that magnitude
can get way too real way too quick
think bike season is over for the year
from now on there will be a day here & there
where you can get your wheels on
maybe up to december but then
the shop is closed up tight 'til spring
i've come to my peace with it
but i spend the winters getting bike stiffies
over this bike & that bike
i haunt craigslist & bike sites
i even get bike stiffies over bike accessories
the snow brings with it too much time
to sit around and fantasize
why the hell anyone lives here is beyond me
unless you're an inside person
i've imagined Genghis Khan on a bike
and all his Horde too
he'd probably ride a fixie
with bullhorn handlebars
and deep dished wheels
with a 48 tooth front sprocket 16 rear
and no brakes
but i could be wrong
he could go for a hybrid or mountain bike
21 gears - flatbar handlebars - trigger shifters - full tread knobby tires -
i can see him loosing arrow after arrow from that short deadly bow
from the back of his bike all the time singing verses
of Dylan's "Shelter From the Storm"
the scene is right there in my head

i got three bottles left
i know places where i can donate bikes
but i don't know anyplace with official status
for donating beer
nancy brought home this mason jar the other day
filled with something called apple pie 'shine
well it did smell like apples & things
if you could get your nose past
the scent of alcohol wafting up out of that jar
i'm thinking everclear here -
trouble is it is tasty & some sweet
and it went down fine with pizza that night
i don't even remember my eyes closing ...
when i woke up it was the next day
it was a case of experience = respect
