Re: Bandit Notions
2 a.m. - why am i at this keyboard at this hour?
could be dangerous ...
- the only writing worth reading is writing that the author or authoress could be thrown in jail for - anything else is but a two dimensional animal -
as in week old roadkill. Only the weak & timid & perpetually fearful clamor for "literature" - or "art".
had to get it off my chest.
i don't go for "introspection" - devil's game, ya know, and one he does best.
He wrote the book on it and will shove a copy of it down your throat faster than one of them egg-laying Alien critters from the movies.
then the fruit of that punches a hole to get out through your abdomen right in the middle of dinner - when the shock wears off you're dead and everybody else is going "YUCK!"
i look at the dead person with his guts all over the place and go :
"Nice picnic, peckerhead"
Goodnight, all.

Re: Bandit Notions
So many military here, so many bases and hospitals, so many wounded warriors hobbling around.
I am tired of war.
I will close my eyes and go to sleep, dream about St Francis and his last prayer and the day I will have done what is mine to do.

Re: Bandit Notions
the dog got everybody up - i think he's happy now so he flops out on the floor having done what was his to do.
I don't know, Jack, even with all the wounded walking around as testimony & all the graves that have been filled when they have the next war people will be found to go. I overheard a guy just recently say..."it's not that bad, between Iraq & Afghanistan only a few thousand have died, it's not like Vietnam or World War Two" ... ... ... ...
wherever it is that we're all going - we are already there.

http://www.unknownnews.org/casualties.html#fn15
Not too bad if you don't count the civilians killed which some people say is near to a million. Others say ony a couple of hundred thousands. No it is not too bad even if you do count the ragheads. Not too bad. Just a few trillion dollars and a few thousand american lives . Not too bad, singing "Johnny I hardly Knew You"
I have read that over two million were killed in Vietnam, so I guess it is not too bad.
.
you can read the entire novel here

I was a fortunate son to have been crazy enough to stay get out of that war. Although I tried to enlist I was four f mentally unfit. I bore the shame of my draft status for many a year till a combat vet from world war two, a surivor of Corregidor told me "don't feel guilty, feel fortunae, feel gratitude."
Book report
Mysteries of the Middle Ages, Thomas Cahill
I been listening to it as an audio book.
I thought you might like it too.
Thanks Mingo

Adieu to a beat marine, Gustav Hasford, blessed be your memoryOutside, I point to a wasted NVA hanging in the wire. "War is serious business, son, and this is our gross national product." I kick the corpse, triggering panic in the maggots in the hollow eye sockets and in the grinning mouth and in each of the bullet holes in his chest.

Re: Bandit Notions
Thx, Jack, i might get to it. I have so many things i should be doing at the moment other than this it's hard to believe that James Joyce is dead instead of right here right now going "do da - do da" right through the floor.

Adrianne Harun“We believe that happiness and misery exist in the secret life, which each of us leads privately ... and by the secret life we mean the life for which there is no external evidence.”

Re: Bandit Notions
why not
I don't think I will ever read another war novel
Scorpians, we have been invaded by them, killed three in the last 24 hours, in the house. for a while for years there were no scorpians because the fire ants ate them, I hated those fire ants, I was relieved when they figured out how to find a natural predator for the which wiped out the fire ants so now the scorpians are back.
We are never quite satisfied with creation, we have to improve on it, in the meantime I stopped going bear foot
la de da
name of a dress store in san antone
I never read any Joyce.
Just a bit maybe.
I don't know why I have not, inferiorority complex maybe, or maybe I am too crazy .

Re: Bandit Notions
the only thing i've ever read by Joyce all the way through was Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - his writing continually made me fight myself - i don't like to work that hard

Re: Bandit Notions
i couldn't be more river if i was mountains and trees grew through your soul ! the crows are out there calling because they want to be fed but i have nothing for them they will have to go to america for food & entertainment & parchesi & biscuits and beer but i have cautioned them on politics & whores & governors wanting to be president - totally business for those who can think of nothing better than to rule what the aborigines once owned but the natives say they never owned it because who could ? Well, we certainly showed them the error of their ways now didn't we ? And that's good except for Custer - his dreams of the presidency got rubbed out there in Montana. And that's good too because my father drove a world war two jeep because he could - put a Buick motor in it with a little help from a friend who's still alive by the way. My father's bones been in the ground near 20 year. My mother's bones lie right next to his. She outlived him but she cried the day he was put under. There is a century or two almost between me and Tecumseh - they named a company after him that made a motor named after the company then put the motor on a lawnmower which i always thought was a wicked irony. Maybe Custer had the right idea regardless of his execution of it. Jack Kerouac was born in the valley of the Greasy Grass on the Little Big Horn. Nobody knows where Crazy Horse is buried. Tecumseh is head groundskeeper over the whole outfit. Maybe he needs a hand with the grass. He might put me on one of them zero-turn mowers. You don't ride them so much as fly them like a helicopter. Yeah, that would be cool.

i get naked - then I paint. Naked first - then paint. If ya don't get naked then what's the point?
I hope Antarctica gets to hold on to some of it's ice at least. All that hardass water keeps mankind from mucking about and building another boring fucking city.
When whales beach themselves they are simply trying to get the fuck away from the damn sea. But this act makes all the onlookers get mondo mysterious and go, "Holy Shit, why the hell did they do that?"
I read where Carly Simon has developed a stutter. Dear Carly, it's ok, I still love you & you can watch me paint anytime you want.

Don't know and don't care 'bout the particulars but seems a reapproachment is taking place or maybe even a healing. Every time I look across the road all I see are people over there smiling & laughing & talking away and it lifts the heart right off the ground to see it.
Good things tend to age well.
