WTMD
playin' all the shit I like
like i was willing the DJ
to give me what I needed
or at least it felt like that
those James Brown horns changed
my whole attitude
Funk for the melancholy
is a valid genre
but not represented alongside
the afro pop and cowboy punk
at the grammies, cuz
it's a therapeutic genre
unknown to doctors, I reach
for the george clinton CD
parliament
funkadelic................. 8)
stay healthy my friends
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

goin' down to rosedale
not the cream rosedale
the one near baltimore
on the woodsy grounds
the american legion hall property
what a hoot, red white and the blues
the 21st annual Alonzos Blues Picnic
and the lineup doesn't disappoint
the young and the old collide
to keep the blues alive...and
the weather looks great, not too hot
partly cloudy, but no rain...
so you pack your cooler and
grab your folding camp chair and
boogie on down
I like to venture into the woods
walk along the creek, you can hear
the music like you were standing
in front of the stage, and the old folks
boogie on their little feat...man do I miss
little feat, saw them the last time
at hammerjacks in balto and I was in awe
but let me not digress, today is all about the blues
and the senior citizens will be dancing
hope a few more young ones show up this year
'cause we all gonna die one day and who
will keep the blues alive ?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

blues pledge
i swear to play the blues
to offer the blues
to fan the flames of blues
as long as i live
in the presence of the young
i, being of sound mind and finite life expectancy,
- signed and sealed

saw the fam yesterday
brother sister father niece nephew
ate like a hog corn on the cob
tomatoes, burgers, salad...adult beverages
my sister gave my daughter Eria
an embroidered scarf that belonged
to my mother, the original Eria
and there it was hand stitched with her name
it was my mom's when she first got married
and when mom passed my sister inherited it
and she gave it to her daughter ...my niece
when she turned 21....sadly my niece was killed
before her 22nd birthday, before my daughter
was even born....and so...when I brought my daughter home
from the hospital and told my sister her name would be Eria
she knew she would keep the scarf until my daughter's 21st
birthday, and so the chain is unbroken from mother to daughter
to granddaughter to different granddaughter
the circle of life rolls like wheel
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

appreciate the time
to be
unfettered by impossible bosses
dig
the woods, the kids, the friendships
lucky
waking up in no pain or dread
each moment
has such powerful implications
and so
I won't assume it will always be the same
I'll live
today with a heavy dose of gusto
I'll love
with all the energy I can muster
tomorrow
is miles and miles and miles away
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

All the way around ---
That sounds so like sporano
Sing it now while we allow you in
The wind is a hymn
Listen carefully to the voice inside
That wants the best for you
Carry me in your arms
Moon and stars do not hide the secrets of love
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
