how can one man convince a thousand lotus eaters
that they are trading autonomy for ease?
that the freedom their silicon amulets offer
are laced with nepenthe -
the oligarchs' soothing lullaby enjoining all
to buy what they are told to buy
to think what they are told to think
to believe what they are told to believe
and to label as Fake
that which displeases them...
one man cannot lead those drunk on lies
wrapped in empty promises -
it's all he can do to turn his back
to dare to be wrong
to pay homage to what is still good
and to believe
that artificial intelligence cannot rule
until the real thing has been eradicated...
