Hotel Story

Post by Artguy » October 10th, 2008, 4:09 pm

I have been reading a book called Legends Of The Chelsea Hotel. Now this book does touch on all the luminaries who have lived there, i don't have to tell you about them as you already know most of their stories. Rather the author, Ed Hamilton who has lived in the Chelsea for the past 12 years, talks about all the lesser known artists, freaks, addicts, and societal misfits who have lived there. Then of course there are the tourists from Indiana who get rooked into staying in Bards' palace....Now here is the great idea. I would like to develope a TV show modeled on the same idea, a decrepit old hotel with a mix of residents and short stay victims. The place would of course be run by a delusional old crank that thinks he's running the ritz....and it's citizens all very off the wall artists of every type, junkies and odd balls. Every episode would be a vignette in the lives of some , one or all of it's dwellers. Now of course i am going to need a great deal of help in putting this together to present to HBO or some other network for production, as I haven't a clue as to what I am doing. Any takers???
Oh ya then there is the music...background tunes from the likes of the velvet underground and the ramones. The opening song I think should be Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands by Bob...

you've got me thinking, kurt
this is a great idea

I think that this series has already been done, but without the picaresque angle.

I love the tile bathrooms in the Chelsae. They look good with blood.

I've never written a pilot. But then at one time I had never written a poem or a legal brief. I'd be willing to try it. I might have an in at HBO.

Of course we would have to get rights to Joni Mitchell's tune "Chelsae Morning" for the theme song.
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."
