the forgery

the above all geometry of space
is shaped by human hands
in the offering and construction
of an idol unto the worshipper

the words themselves betray the idea
and the attachment of a journal proclaims its originality
and offers its advice for the authentic experience
for what could otherwise be experienced
as a work unto itself

over decades and epochs the oil fades
the colours mis-shape and
the lie becomes a truth all over again

the painting as a forgery becomes indifferent
and the experience of it
remains in deference to the original
