nostalgia

Post by sweetwater » January 8th, 2010, 3:44 pm

it's as if you have fallen asleep
to find contentment in your dreams
thinking about what to do with your unfettered existence

to find something in the past
as some lost article you have misplaced

as perspective over time changes in the least
and you become the rescuer of nostalgia
where the past seems surreal and sublime

and something as in some lost
expression of youthful desires
one begins to think

about time in a different landscape

how quickly it passes by
and how the body gets older

but the mind remains a growing meadow

until age takes upon us
the unerring realization
of a fallen dove

and we find ourselves
asleep in the waking
and waking as if before dawn
still asleep

where the dreams of travellers
become found alternatives
of time being spent

and where we travel when we sleep

drifting, counting
climbing and falling

it would seem a metaphoric silvester game
trying to guess the roles
and responsibilites and
where the self changes and metamorphizes

breaks through and opens

Sweetwater, I loved wandering through the meadow of your poem. I felt this deeply and fondly. This pondering took me back years to a place lost in mists of memory.
