Jack, you can take this one all the way back, according to scholars, to Proto Indo-European. means then "divider". or as a "provider" of destinies. Base is *da - to divide. Also "lesser god ". "unclean spirit" - Jewish translators used it in this sense when transcribing Hebrew into Greek for the Septuagint, using it to render "shedim", "lords, idols". From Old English comes "hell knight" - demon.
enough. time to call it a day. Curiosity: the writings of the new testament shed light on the fact that the demons who met Jesus knew without doubt who he was and some said so, out loud, in front of witnesses. For one, Luke 4:33-34.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Sorry about all that steve.
I need to sort all those links out one day

Who ever used it first I am partial to the Greek

I suppose I should fear the supernatural more than I do.

It is nature that spooks me
Human nature
Divine Nature I don't know what that is, it all mystical and cloudy mysterious as quantum mechanics.
So I have my little tete a tete with my GΘD of this text box
And feel like I got a friend in here.
In the meantime Schrodinger pets his cat, Einstein crosses the Rubicon, and Feud eats peas off of a knife.
And my demon muse plays tippy tappy type type on my keyboard.

I was a fortunate son, my demons were all in a rat infested cellar that crazy mike would lock me up in.

He tried hard to make me understand what his demons were,
I spent some productive hours down there in the basement under the trapdoor with the iron D ring in it.

what the hell was this thread about
oh yeah the Greeks

Who was that guy Plato anyway, a motorcycle mechanic?

I know a lot about the Greeks, I took a nightt school class at Johns Hopkins in b.more.
The Greeks had sanest culture western man has ever achieved according to Nitschke.
