listen to the breeze
feel her warm kiss
on your withered cheek
you won't see the raptor
in your living room...
the water flows in the creek
just outside your door,
call 1-800-JUNK
pare down to sanity
slip out of the shackles
feel the serenity of nothing
embrace the perfection
boundless simplicity beyond
the lies of ugly suits
it's always been there
in your house, in that room
not on the blueprints
eschew the dirty needle
god-damn the pusher man
wrapped in stars and stripes
it's an illusion you learned in school
haven't you consumed enough big macs
find your compass, find your compass-ion
there ain't nothing else to worry about
muddled trail
muddled trail
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: muddled trail
amen, brother
there are moments I'm out walking some remote byway, the dog crashing unseen off in the woods - and I'll laugh out loud recalling corporate life - the slights, the posturing and jockeying, the banality, the total bullshit of Life In A Cube - because 2+ years out, it still tickles to be free of it all. The wind in the trees, the trickling of meltwater flowing downhill to Scott Brook, the springtime displays of the woodpeckers, chickadees, & titmice - that's where it's really at.

Re: muddled trail
Good poem...and I like the reference to the Steppenwolf song, the pusher I think was my favorite song of theirs.
great guitar riff.

Re: muddled trail
Well I got rid of the TV years ago.
Now sometimes I wish I had some sort of "quick clean-up," like on my little computerized talking device-- hook it up to my brain, hit a button and all the trash is sucked away to some mythic, unseen dump, and also maybe a big duct to suck away the mounds of paper junk mail and all the ghost relics of consumer folly past still lying around...
Simple is better. I think. Or it might be worse. What do I know?..
