her endless charm

Post by saw » February 10th, 2020, 11:14 am

I was rockin' in my rockin' chair
now what else would I be doin' in that kinda chair
and the motion made me think about artificially altering my consciousness
when i realized i was already naturally high

I hiked along the mighty Susquehanna yesterday
and well, that's better than magic mushrooms,
has a lasting affect that indigestibles rarely provide
i snaked thru the trampled earth in the woods, the river, the river

she shone in my eyes, in my mind and my chemistry was altered
energy and attitude, focus was elevated, atoms. neurons juiced
and happy, nature was infused without a needle
things were rearranged like walking up to a Van Gogh hanging on the wall

Now, please don't misunderstand, I ain't no prude
pass me a joint and you'll see that illegal grin, yes Maryland
has only approved the medical version, but nothing I tell ya
nothing, sustains like a visit with Mama Earth and her endless charm
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I hear ya man
a soupcon of herbal tea
ain't the main course
any more than sacramental wine
is meant to be swilled
just a sip is all it takes
just enought to bring out subtle flavors
in Mother's cuisine
just a little something
to bring into focus tiny miracles
otherwise unnoticed -
the graceful arc of water
coursing over a sunken log...
the different songs the wind plays
on red pines and white...
the rich smells of mud
balsam
mayflowers
and the coriander essence of crushed sweetfern...
the way a green snake evades capture
by burrowing
and will try to crawl between your fingers
when caught...
and the way a little brown snake
will curl up in the palm of your hand
to partake of its warmth...
miracles all
free for the taking
made all the more poignant
by a bit of magic smoke
not too much -
just enough
to cleanse the palate
.

very nice my man
a fine poetic list of some of the magic
all around enhanced by moderation

I followed these old railroad tracks for 3 miles
the river in my right eye
very few humans and they were locals
walking their dogs
i met some truly beautiful sweet dogs yesterday
another good reason to hit he woods

I really liked this group back in the day, but hadn't listened to them in years - didn't rediscover them until I started ripping all my old LPs to computer. It wasn't until then that the lyrics to this song really hit me - they struck such a resonant chord that I just had to build a slideshow around the song, a process that usually involves matching music to the visuals, not vice-versa.

So - just look around. It's all there around us to see...............

very nice
the music and the visuals
and I always liked those guys as well
such an easy free flowing sound
and the lyrics for that song suit me well
