the day the blues got into me

Post by saw » June 25th, 2020, 11:00 am

silent notification
smoke signals from the extremities of the mind
regions unknown in any book of anatomy
the slow-burn-collective outline, shape
of a silhouette so true the neck tingles
calling me to engage, use more
than a few measly senses, step through
the gate now ajar, into that garden of musical birth
seems anyone could do it with experimentation
and open eyes of blue light shining, on a pale Peter Green aura

harken back with me to the British Invasion
music from across the pond...John Mayall !
and his Bluesbreakers.....that wailing harmonica
channeling Lead Belly, Pinetop Smith
corralling Clapton from The Yardbirds, Jack Bruce
for a cup of coffee, John McVie, Blue Mitchell.....Man
they came and went like wayward travelers
to and from this rockin' country inn where the jam
was always tasty and fresh and you never left
with an empty belly

Wonderful take on the blues and where it took you. The British invasion. I wasn't born when the Beatles came on the Ed Sullivan show. But you took me to a time and place I get nostalgic for through video clips. Thank you.

John
