Madness

For mega corporations like Google breaking the law and paying penalties is simply a cost of doing business. Not a deterrent from illegal activity. So to facilitate another mammoth data center in Finland they just cut down 400,000 healthy trees.
Giant corporations do this shit all the time. They calculate the fines, then rape the environment. No execs ever go to jail.
This is capitalism in a nutshell. The laws primarily exist not to protect people and the enviroment but for the interests of capital.
If I destroyed a data center, I'd be charged as an eco-terrorist and likely spend the rest of my like in prison, but when Google destroys our beautiful natural world, they recieve a finger wag and a symbolic fine
Our planet is rapidly turning into a pile of ashes for no other reason than to enrich shareholders.
Our entire precious biosphere without intervention will end up in the woodchipper.
