Sole to Soul

[saw]

a Redtail Hawk soars
among the pillow clouds
I gaze upward to catch her majesty
but wonder, what do I really know
seeing only her white underbelly
I mean, when you look into my eyes
can you see the aches in my bones....
It ain't quite that simple most days
I love the diversity of the forest
the alto voices of the highest limbs
the basso voices of the mycelium network
Under my Feet !.....now that's Roots Music !
I think of all the miles on my boot bottoms
caked with the Soil du Jour
some has fallen off, gone home to the ground again
to be picked up randomly by the next hiker
who is also eager to bond, and carried briefly
for the earth can only be borrowed.....
absorb this gift of impermanence
let it permeate your soles
let your soul be enriched
by the complex fragrance
you get to take home with you
revel in opening that closet door
from time to time
'til it's time for the next immersion
