My Mind Has A Mind of Its Own

Post by saw » November 25th, 2008, 5:02 pm

I like to write simply
sometimes
other times I like to
metaphor my ass off,
but both feel comfortable
and neither feels more real
than the other,
and all the styles come
from the mixing bowl
of my emotions
fed by the cyclical ebb and flow,
that on a good night
rages like the mighty Rhine
demanding her presence be
acknowledged throughout
the little villages
that wait for her sexy power
to turn the wheels of invention,
I can't really help where the poem goes,
can't force it to take either fork
in the dry road ahead, make it
go left, make it go right,
can't convince myself
that the lady prefers a gentleman
with a sense of humor, hell
sometimes that ol' gal just plows
right through the god damned cornfield.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I'm not really sure where this goes, saw
but that is also the point of the poem, right?
very robust as usual
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

I am confused Clay, you once wrote that poetry does not have to go anywhere, it just has to "sound" By go I am thinking you are saying it has to have "meaning."

I will see if I can find the quote and put it here.>>>>>>>>>>chances are I may have mis-read you.
