Bailout!

Post by Lightning Rod » December 4th, 2008, 2:38 pm

I need a bailout
note to self:
hitchhike to Washington and ask for one

if we let the poetry industry go under
our whole society is in peril of collapse
think of all the industries that depend on it:
movies, advertising, music, politics

oh sure, we finally got a poet laureate
but what about the mainstreet poets
who keep the coffee houses going
what about the supply chain of ideas?
We Need a Bailout
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

So true

Little I can do to bail you out

Except be grateful for poets

bailout this sinking ship called humanity...I remain hopelessly adrift in the equatorial waters of my life...

bailout is a curious word to use for corrupt capitalism... bailing out is useless if the leak is not fixed.

sorry, eLRod, too serious a reply for an innocent poem, but...

Why not? Let's all get in line. Smart one, Lightning Rod.

I wonder who will bail out the bailer-outers?

I think it is a matter of balance Cecil. We need more corrupt poets.

I've heard that quote attributed to Picasso and to Eliot but never to Wilde
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

i'm looking it up old man!

dude....this is the ironic thing about this quote....its all over the internet mingled and changed and mis quoted!

maybe it was T.S Elliot....but Wilde had more fun, i'll tell you that...well right up untill you know, he didnt.

I think that this is one of those apocryphal rubrics that we will never know who really wrote

it just endures because it's true

(Churchill probably said everything at one time or another and Twain and Russell)
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

except that whole thing about women being suffierior to men and the fact he helped create a hierarcical institution while supposing another one in his writting...woops....

just thought i'd have a reflective you know look at power in the politics of who's who in our cannon for a sec....the real guys probably some guy we don't know becaue he didn't have the support money to be heard or remembered in the way the others did

i post like still trucking- i have to go now...i am going now to brave the outside world, a burriotto place all by myself, me at a table alone, burritto in hand . its actually scarrier to go get out when you don't know anybody.
