Superman

Superman

Hey Superman
your cape unfurled
Frayed around it's edges
tattered and torn

You need a shave

One eye squinting to see
No more tall buildings to leap
No more railing locomotives
Even Clark Kent
Has nothing to write
Greed is your kryptonite
Wall St. is walled

Gotham destroyed it's Goth

You need
A new bad guy
Ya killed the last guy
Blew him to shit

Your girl has lost her shine

Who's next
Iceland looks good
throwin ice at us

The Statue of bigotry has drowned

so much for superheroes... they died with all the rest of the fantasies... the new times will be telling... are we prepared for such radical new concepts and ideas and corrections in living rightly..?

Superheroes never die. They just reinvent themselves.

Funny stuff. I hear this one.

As much as a (militarily strong) America and its nerve centers of (globally-merged/mergin') capitalistic "free enterprise" still have (waning) power and at least the potential to help the rest of the world in more meaningful ways, a sustained trend of hubris, greed and violent, meddling deceit on the world stage have allowed the images self-proclaimed strength and liberty to steadily "go to seed" and lose much of their credible impact over time. And besides, hate to say it but the 'Home of the Free' itself has recurring patterns of violence and bigotry throughout its history while publicly trumpeting liberty at every turn, so maybe in a sense it can't exactly 'lose' what it never truly 'had' in the first place..

Thanks all, my take on this phenom is that a super hero needs a nemesis or he crumbles beneath his own bloated self. What is patriotism...it's not a word often used here in the land of snow and hockey sticks...I always hear it in context of protecting the state from all it deems evil...is it not as patriotic to rail against the unjust wars fought against evils because the state says they are evil....how many have read The Communist Manifesto to know communism ....and how amny have taken the word of the state stating it as evil and superman must rid the world of this plague and others....How many evils has the state created to prop itself up before it's unsuspecting citizens .....If perceived evil vanishes will the state collapse????? Like superman without a cape...........

The greater the (perceived) evil, the greater the collapse, eh? Either the whole cape or just some threads...

entertaining thought, kurt... ty

The fall of the Soviet Bloc was the worst thing that could've happened. Without the evil empire we are left with wars with shade of gray, in which good and evil aren't clear. The Red menace galvanized the West. Now old alliances are disintegrating. Someone please rebuild the Berlin Wall!!!
