You're right, K, racism is not dead nor will it ever completely give up the ghost as long as there are people. People will attach another's race or skin color in defense of the unknown time after time. It even happens in the Mid East, with the Palestinians (for example) and the Jews... racism probably stronger with the Palestinians rather than the other way around... as long a two races live together or within each other's criticism you will find a degree of racism. Hell, some blacks are racist towards whites or even Hispanics and vice versa. Racism, I know you're well aware of, is not an exclusive hatred device aimed only at blacks by other races. It's worldwide and has been with hu'manity for as long as there was a racial difference. I'm positive there was racism between the Neanderthals and we Homo Sapiens... arguably the first racism amongst mankind.

The thing that can be curbed is the out-and-out violence within racism. At least we as hu'mans should open our heads when the evil spark of racism is ignited and ask ourselves what's the basis for that fear.

Wow. Geez, Kayla.

I had no idea that what I was talking about would make you want to delete the thread. I'm terribly sorry.

Sorry it went off topic.

I truly don't understand how a person can disagree with honesty. I'm just being honest, telling the truth about how I feel. Is it the way I feel that you disagree with? I can tell you don't want to talk about it any more so you don't have to answer. It's just feelings. It's the way I look at people. Honestly.

Maybe you're disagreeing with my definition of the phrase "color blind"? It's just a term. I wish I hadn't used it.

I think it's been a great discussion myself. I'd hate to delete the thread but if that's what you want, I will, I guess.

It's up to you.

D, I just hate that it went into rant mode. I wanted this to be an open exchange about Obama, and world politics, not racism. You don't have to apologize for going off topic. I appreciate your passion for your beliefs. It's inspiring. I just wasn't looking for the discussion to go this way. I sort of want the convo deleted, but I really wanted to hear honest opinions on the links. So I don't know. Maybe I should sleep on it.

mtm... There is a lot of racism, classicism, elitism, whatever. We as humans cannot help but want to feel superior to other human beings in some way. It's despicable. And certainly I know that blacks are not the only ones that have had racism perpetrated against them, but certainly the issue is more personal to me as a black person. I agree that hate crimes and violence should not even exist, but as long as there are boneheads out there who believe that sort of bullshit, the violence will persist.

yeah, sleep on it.

I'm absolutely baffled that you read "rant mode" into my text. I was ranting?

I thought I was talking.

Fricking internet. God I hate it sometimes.

One time recently I was on another site writing humor as a fictional character and some guy replied to me, "What are you so angry about, Doreen?"

*shaking my head*... how he read anger into my humorous fictional character text is way beyond me.

Sorry again I got into a discussion about race.

Maybe I need another internet break. I was seriously having a very calm discussion with you expressing my feelings. If you read it as "rant mode," I must be a terrible writer.

I was more talking about myself being on a rant. But I'll sleep on it and get back to you.
