Can you find it in your heart to forgive us?
She is twice the man I am.

Jesus wasn't killed. He knew of and accepted his own 'death' to come back from his 'death' to perpetuate a grand myth which haunts Christendom to this day : Jesus never died but joined his father in heaven.

Well, I used to go to a dispensational evangelical church, and the way they explained it to me was something along the following line:

Mel Gibson notwithstanding, Christian doctrine is intertwined and interdependent with Jewish doctrine. God dealt exclusively with the chosen people of Israel (descendants of Abraham) basically until the death of Jesus and subsequent resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, which ushered in a new dispensation in which both "Jew and Gentile" were offered "salvation" (through Christ), and Christianity was born and grew rapidly with the teachings of Paul (formerly Saul). Christ was said to "bear punishment for all of the world's sins" on the cross, and the new Christian church originally focused heavily on this sort of universality (before it splintered in many different directions and gained too much power for its own good). According to my pastor, the Old Testament, the crucifixion, all of it, were different stages in "God's Plan". A very complicated Plan, to hear him tell it.

Well, at least that's what they told me.

sounds like a pithy joke to me.

reminds me of a bill hicks bit. "i was doing a show in the deep south and a guy came up to me after the show saying, 'hey buddy, i'm christian and i don't like what you said 'bout jesus!', I said, 'you're christian? well then, forgive me.'"

either way, it isn't up to me to forgive anyone for killing jesus. if you ask me... he did it to himself. he was mouthy! you know?! getting all up the romans' shit... what did he think would happen?!

Bennie, I think there's a lot of truth in what you say here, i.e. "if you ask me... he did it to himself. he was mouthy! you know?! getting all up the romans' shit... what did he think would happen?!"

see. I'm an atheist. I've given it lots of thought since about age 13 and... to me... it doesn't make any sense at all. I don't have faith. a faith. but I think there was some cat called jesus. a gandhi type. a trouble maker. an agitator in his own way.

a beautiful person for the masses to kill.

Do you have a lisp Bennie? I can't tell if you said pissy or pithy.

I always like this song Cecil, I am not much into theology. Be He myth, meat, or metaphor I owe him a good night's sleep. And when silent woman had her abortion because of my carelessness she found comfort in Him. I am very grateful for that. I suppose that is my Christian testimony.

I also like this song a lot

She left me for Jesus,
And that just ain't fair.
She says that he's perfect.
How could I compare?
She says I should find him,
And I will know peace at last.
But if I ever find Jesus,
I'm kickin' his ass.

SHE SHOWED ME A PICTURE ALL I COULD DO WAS STARE
AT THAT FREAK IN HIS SANDALS WITH HIS LONG PRETTY HAIR
THEY MUST THINK THAT IM STUPID OR I DONT HAVE A CLUE
ILL BET HE'S A COMMIE OR EVER WORSE YET A JEW

Jesus is easy for me. I could not understand why why Joel would get angry if anyone joked about Jesus. I suppose it was as if they were attacking his livelihood.
I can understand that. I remember once Clay and Doreen were riffing on Jesus and Joel got offended and started ranting about the sacred blood of Jesus, which always gives me the squirms.
Not sure why, probably just my Jew boy in the promised land paranoia.

I hope Joel is doing okay. I enjoyed reading him. I suppose he is too busy with his new flock to come round here with us heathens. I hope he has some cool old people in his church.

I am not worried about how Jesus is doing, I am sure He is just fine, He has plenty of people to look out for him even kill for him.
I don't understand people who feel they have to defend G-d.

Speaking of that I did not know that the Muslims are also waiting for Jesus Christ to return. He is part of their end times scenario.

Oh well I am done pontificating for today. I hope.

Don't forget to rub a Jew's head for good luck. That is what Pastor John Hagee seems to be doing...

I don't remember Joel ever getting offended about any topics. He seemed to be one of the most even tempered people I've seen. He's a minister now. In the Presbyterian Church, I believe. I guess he doesn't have time to join in online. I miss him. I've known him online since 1998. Wow. 11 years.

I made it sound too melodramatic Doreen. I should be more careful in what I write. . I can not find the thread. You and Clay were playing around with words, one of the words was Jesus. Joel did not rant, that was a very careless way to describe it. What he did was come back with something that sounded like sermon on the Sacred Blood of Jesus. Not rant, but still pretty hard core.

I have searched for the words (Joel. sacred, blood, and Jesus)
I can not find the post. Either my memory is false, or he deleted the post. I can not find the thread where you and Clay were riffing on Jesus, I could be wrong about that too. I saw a movie the other day that I had not seen in 35 years, amazing how wrong I remember the ending.

So what can I say?

I have been vain about my memory.

I don't know if Jesus' blood is any more precious than any other human being?

I am a heretic, cause I don't worry about going to hell. I know what is at stake.

I usually turn to Jesus when I am in a hell of a lot of pain.
Marx said religion is dope.
I think the Dali Lama said the religion is like medicine. If you are not in pain you don't need it. (that is a mangled quote from a book called The Art of Happiness which was written by an American Psychiatrist who interviewed the D.L.
Nice book.

I no longer wish for happiness, simple being aware is good for me these days. That is a mangled quote from Camus.

.

I'm pontificating again
I been into the bitter herbs again.
oi.

I am glad Joel found some good times here. I miss him.

One more thing Doreen
Thank you for reading

sincerely
jt.

going to hit the submit button now. It seems like a good time to end this scroll.
